A step back in time. I believe the largest estate in Ireland. We spent one night and it has been one of the highlights of our entire 2 weeks in Ireland. Roderick is a wonderful host, he greets you at the MONSTER size front doors and takes you up the grand staircase past the LARGE MUSEUM size oils to your room, and explains what time we all meet for drinks before gathering around a large dining table for dinner. The FOOD was excellent, and the conversation with the other guests very lively and interesting. My husband and I met couples from London, Canada, France and Australia ! The history of the home is fascinating, the home has been in the same family for about 800 years. In fact it is mentioned in a current article in CONDE NAST TRAVEL magazine- Sept 07 issue. Be sure and walk the grounds. If you arrive early enough you can take a boat out, or walk past what used to be the stable house. There are parts of the home that appear to still be undergoing renovation and it would be good to see that continue. Modern bathrooms, excellent food and you truly feel like you have stepped back in time. Worth the price.
