“Beautiful wedding :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

I cannot say enough about Temple House and it's gracious owners, Roderick and Helena. They helped me plan my wedding to be held at their beautiful estate from far, far away in Colorado. All the details were handled wonderfully-down to flower, hair, and makeup recommendations! Although we missed meeting his wife, Roderick was a more than gracious host. He welcomed us early, shared enchanting stories about the home, and helped us when planning excursions. He bent over backwards for us numerous times while we were there. I honestly cannot put into words how much it meant to my family, new in-laws, new husband, and me. Thank you so much, Roderick! You will always hold a special place in all our hearts and memories of our beautiful wedding day! Sandra Tschirhart

Amazing house and grounds! I cannot say enough about this place. We stayed in both Dromoland and Ashford Castles, which were awesome, but the time here was incredible. Sheep everywhere (we got to experience herding them upon our arrival!), massive lake to row and fish, ruins to explore, creative hideouts in the woods, breakfast and dinner in the beautiful dining room...and such gracious hosts. I will not return to Ireland without staying here again. We were 3 couples and one single, all family travelling together, and we all agree that this estate was absolutely fabulous!

My husband and I enjoyed the spacious house and property, including the private lake. We had a spectacular french dinner in the gorgeous dining room. The french chef is very talented even with lactose and mushroom allergies! All courses were yummy!! The home is much like the Newport RI mansions except for the castle ruins and private lake to explore and the 100's of acres of land and sheep!! Thank you so much for making our trip so special!!

Room Tip: All rooms are beautiful with period finishes that make you feel at home. All rooms have gorgeous vie...

We loved staying at Temple House! It is a beautiful place with amazing grounds to explore. My daughter and I climbed the castle ruins and rowed on the lake. It was more than just a stunningly beautiful B&B; staying at Temple House was an experience we'll never forget. A lot of that was due to the absolutely wonderful hosts. Helena and Roderick made us feel like friends visiting for a few days, rather than hotel guests. They were always eager to chat with us, offering helpful advise about local attractions and telling us the fascinating history of the house. Also, the dinner we had there was easily the best food we ate in Ireland. It is a remarkable place owned by two very personable hosts.

We had the pleasure of spending two nights opening weekend of Temple House in March, 2012. Helena and Roderick were excellent hosts (as was Darcy the Irish Wolfhound who entertained us all)... Our group consisted of 8 people ranging in age from 6- 65 years. The grounds are unbelievable and we had the special treat of being there during lambing season - while this may not be a big deal in some countries, it was spectacular for our kids to see all the babies being born, holding them and even getting to feed some newborns. The staff were all amazing and the food was delicious. This is a perfect location to stay if you want to explore Yeats Country. Very family friendly - worth a trip even if you want to stay in house for the weekend - there is plenty to do. Also, do not miss Eagles Flying a bit down the road - the kids (and adults) loved it (thanks for the suggestion Roderick)!

I'd love to return. Perfect for train journey from Dublin (around 5 minutes from Ballymote railway station). Dinner is served in a stunning dining room where house guests all share the one table. Terrific fun and memorable. Home grown organic spuds, local artisan cheeses and the most decadent brown bread my lips have ever met. Hosts are delightful. Very charming experience.

I have been bringing small groups here to Temple House for the last few years and will continue to do so for as long as they will let me. Roderick and his family welcome us like long lost friends and make us feel as if we are part of the family. When I am searching out accommodation for our small group tours, this is exactly what I look for. I love to walk in the door with a group and know that they will be well taken care of from the time we arrive until the time we depart, This often becomes the favorite accommodation for people on the tour. Not only is the house comfortable and relaxing but the food is excellent as well! A wonderful place to stay with warm, friendly hosts in and exceptional setting.
