Weekend evening dinner inside at Stonewalls. Decor is nothing extraordinary, but still pleasant. What you might expect from an American steak house restaurant. Six adults (the kids were elsewhere). I ordered my usual appetizer of escargot, another in the group ordered the crab-stuffed mushrooms. Everyone else opted for the salad bar. The salad bar, as usual, was satisfying to all. I have ordered the escargot a number of times, and for the first time was disappointed. It seemed rubbery, with not much taste. The mushrooms, however, received a rave review. I ordered lobster for dinner, steaks were ordered for the rest of the table, with one person choosing a blackened prime rib. Once again, I was disappointed with my selection as the lobster seemed dry and overcooked. Everyone else was quite happy with their steaks, and the blackened prime rib was declared "the best I've had in quite some time." I haven't ordered lobster at Stonewalls before, so I don't know if mine was standard in what one would receive there, or just a one time glitch. Perhaps it's better to order steak at a steak house? Regardless, service was quick and attentive, the rest of the meals were thoroughly enjoyed and I've been to Stonewalls during summer vacations enough times over the years to know that my experience is not typical. We'll be back the next time we're craving steak and salad bar.
