We recently spent a few days in Banner Elk. When it came time to eat dinner on our first night we ended up here after getting smoked out of the Bayou Smokehouse & Grill. (see our review) We landed in the right place. It was packed, but we got a table. Our waiter, an ex-Marine, (I know, I know.......once a Marine always a Marine) was very friendly and helpful. They have a fine salad bar. Ceasar salad, or make your own tossed. Fresh toppings, including crumbled bleu cheese, smoked oysters and anchovies. We ordered the filet mignon and the prime rib. Both were excellent. We enjoyed it so much we returned two nights later for a repeat performance. I would call this place a "family restaurant." Exterior stonework blends with its mountain setting. Inside you have oak tables and chairs. Not really an intimate place for a romantic dinner, but a fine restaurant nonetheless.
