“Perfect Engagement”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2012

Me and my fiance had an awesome experience here. We camped in Boone the first night of our visit, and I proposed at sunrise, we stayed at Archers Inn the second night to celebrate, and it was PERFECT. We stayed in the Beech Room. It was so amazing. The room was massive, breakfast was huge, and delicious. The staff there is super friendly. They all love what they are doing and treat you like a real person, not just a customer. Archers Inn is the perfect place for the outdoorsy person (or couple) to upgrade from a tent for a few days but still enjoy a true mountain atmosphere.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms in Hawk's View are vaulted ceilings, and awesome!

Recently stayed at the Inn and had a wonderful experience. Everything you could ask for while in the mountains. Candi, Matt and the whole staff do all they can to be sure you enjoy your stay. Just like being with family. Jackalope's View serves outstanding dinners, The Vault has a down home feel, super breakfasts included with your room. Not fancy, but clean and comfortable. Thursday is locals night at The Vault... a lot of fun. We will be back.

The views from the extra large decks are terrific... rooms are large also and have real wood fireplaces. Comfortable and reasonable. We stayed in search for a place for a large group. It would have been perfect except we couldn't get enuf rooms the weekend we neede them. The bar and restaurant are also a nice BONUS! Surprisingly great food

Room Tip: Rooms with views are plenty and worth a little extra $$. Easy access to most all of them

Thank you for your kind words! We are so glad you enjoyed our quirky place. I did notice you were in the area to see if we could handle a larger group. I did want to make you aware that when you add our vacation homes in the mix we can house around 100 people, along with having the resources through other properties if you need to handle an even larger group.

We look forward to your return! Summer brings some of the best hiking in the Southeast, cool temperatures, cycling, mountain biking, music festivals, a craft beer festival, rafting, fishing and golf so please come back and see us!

Kindest regards, Candi

My now husband lived in Banner Elk for 7 yrs and we decided to "come back home" to get married. Our 1st dinner in the High Country as well as numerous other adventurous nights took place at Jackalopes Restaurant and the Vault Bar. We saw it fitting to have our wedding reception here in addition to using their rental houses for the wedding party and family. I don't believe one person was disappointed in their lodging. The rental homes are fabulous and provide every comfort (and more) from home. Comfortable and cozy with the choice to go as basic or as luxurious as you want. Driveways can be tricky in the snow however you come to the mountains for snow! The hotel rooms themselves are rustic and quirky in their layouts, but never dull and certainly uniquely themed for every room (ps couples go for the Roof Garden room with private outdoor hot tub!) As for the food, I have never left hungry or thirsty nor wanting more. Menu is authentic to the area as well as diverse (you can go as simple as you want with ribeye and salad to escargot and duck); foodies must try this place! Our wedding menu consisted of: mountain trout with rasberry creme fraiche, ribeye, and (my fav) shrimp ziti pasta with wedge and mixed green salads. Apps: stuff mushroom caps, brie, swedish meatballs. Champagne toast is a must. Wino's this is also a great place to wet your whistle- great selection and presentation of wines (not to mention the real cork wall paper throughout). Beer lovers are not at a loss either... Spaten being the house beer! The view from the main dining room's long bay windows speaks for itself. You wont find another Inn/restaurant with this quality of food, drink, or lodging with this view in the High Country. Skiing is just minutes away and down the mountain is Banner Elk (best little town in the world if I do say so myself). No matter the season or reason for venturing there it has always been a blast. It truly is as one review stated "a diamond in the rough". Staff have always been friendly and truly busted their butt for me and my family on our wedding. Tip for brides: Candi is wonderful to work with and coordinate. She will make it easy for you! Keep your guest list down to below 80 (its gets tight in the restaurant if you have anymore than that).

Bottom line: I wouldn't have had my wedding anywhere else. If it hadnt been my wedding I would still say that it was the best wedding I have ever been to. I have been to Archers Inn and Jackalopes Restaurant a 100 times and I hope to go back 200 more!
