I'll start with the only downside of this trip the early start time of 7:00 a.m. for the Nolichucky River Rafting trip. There is some drive time (75-90 min overall) to get to the put-in spot, but our driver was a bit entertaining and we mostly closed our eyes until we got there.
Josh was our guide and he was fantastic. And he does all the hard work, so we didn't even have to paddle that much; only when he called out strokes to us. He was knowledgeable not only about the river, but also about many aspects of our ecosystem and environment. Definitely enjoyed talking to him throughout the trip.
Each set of rapids (class 3 & 4) is a bit unique and we enjoyed them all. Do come prepared with dry clothes for the trip back and know that you will definitely get wet, even if you don't fall in. This was the first time for almost all of us and we are ready to up our game to some class 5 rapids next time!!
