Top Secret Mexican hidden away on the fringe of Sunnyside. Small, but warm and friendly, Real Santa Fe is the place you want to take your stuck-up friends from LA who insist they have the best Mexican food north of the border. Soccer (football) plays on the giant flat-screen while mariachi and traditional Mexican music fills the air. Carlos, the owner, seated us on a busy Sunday night and made us feel welcome (we were the only gringos). Maragaritas were as smooth as lemonade and the food - fresh, hot and flavorful. You can have all the usual Mexican staples if you want - but you'd be missing out on the inventive and exciting dishes offered. The braised pork shank is far and away the dish not to miss: falling off the bone and so succulent it didn't need sauce - but the sauce was wonderful. Salmon was light and glowed beautifully - the presentation on these dishes inspires picture-taking at the table. No room for dessert but tried the 3 Leche cake anyway. Stuffed is the way you leave Real Santa Fe - fat and happy. It's only been open for a year and there's a patio in the back that makes you hope winter flies by. Get there before it's overrun with hipsters.
