We stayed for 4 nights and used their Ski & Stay package. We rented 3 of their rooms (Canterbury, Loganberry and Bayberry). We were a family of 4 (Husband/wife, mother and son).
This B&B and the rooms we rented meet all of our needs. We selected this place for their room rates and the closeness to the 2 ski resorts we were planning to visit (Hunter and Windham).
- The B&B has a very nice website and provides ton's of pictures. They all match exactly. We had no surprises as to what the interior/exterior was to look like.
- Rooms were clean upon arrival and each had their own bathrooms (in room). You did not have to go out into the hallway to gain access to your bathroom.
- Bed was comfortable, TV had plenty of cable channels, room decor and antique's was lovely.
- Room size was adequate. We had plenty of room in two of our rooms. The 3rd room was a little small for our specific needs since we had SO much ski equipment. This comment, by no means, is a negative one. Its just that we stored most of the ski equipment in one room, which meants we had little space left on the floor.
- Bathrooms had stand up showers only. I knew this when I booked these rooms and choose to still stay there - although all of us would have much preferred having bathtubs in our rooms since after a long ski day, we like to relax and soak in hot water to soothe our sore muscles. Once again, not a negative comment. Just our preference - bathtubs vs. showers. Just be aware, these rooms are shower only.
- Plenty of hot water. It did take a little while for your bathroom to get the hot water (guess the hot water tank is in basement??). Once the hot water came up stairs, it was really HOT. We experienced no issues, with 'lack of' hot water like you occasionally do at lodging facilities.
- Breakfast was wonderful. Fresh fruit and all homemade items (omelets, pancakes, etc....) Lots of yummy food and owner accomodated our 'time' requests.
- We have stayed in many B&B's over the years and all too often the owners are continuing 'in your business'. These owners checked in with you at breakfast and then left you alone the rest of the day. We liked this and it worked well for our specific needs.
- House is old and does 'creek' at night. Electric base board heater does come on/off frequently and makes noise. Not a big deal to use. We had ear plugs and have family that has old houses and are used to this. Just be aware.
- OVERALL: This was a wonderful B&B and I would highly recommend it. It's 2 miles from Windham ski resort and about 7 miles from Hunter. It's one of the cheaper priced B&B's in the area (believe me, because I've done the research). When you consider the room size, overall conditions and price, you will be happy with your stay.
