We've been to many Bed and Breakfast inns and this one ranks one of the best. The owners are a very interesting and friendly couple, a Japanese artist and a down-to-earth multicultural lady with a unique sense of decoration.

Breakfast is excellent with varied foods and generous portions. Look for the chef's special touch with the omelets! We had to skip lunch.

The owners provided us with helpful suggestions about where to go, what to do, where to eat in the area.

We will be back.

My Husband ,Child and I, checked into Beds on Clouds B&B late Friday night. We did not know our way. When we called the Lady that owns and runs the B&B give him directions and stood outside the building at 12:30 p.m. so we would see her and not get lost. The house is beautiful and looks like an art gallery. The room we stayed in was small but good enough for our needs. The sheets were colorful, but clean. My 2 and half year old daughter was facinated by what she called 'bed of flowers'. The walls were immaculate with a playful animal themed border. There was a shelf, just at the borders edge, with a pair of brown birds on them, this I thought was magical. The bathroom was sparkling and tastefully done. There was an aboundance of sheets, covers and pillows. The walls were a lovely tone of green with abstract art done in red white and black by an artist name Vitalle. The Breakfast/dining room was delightful. There was a large table with about 10 chairs. A coffee maker, a fridge and condiments. The owner/hosts asked what we wanted in the way of omlettes, eggs etc. Fresh sliced fruit, fluffy croissants and amazing coffee was available for the taking. At night we were able to utalise the back porch/deck for relaxation. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Beds on Clouds. The owners are very educated, worldly and well travelled individuals who know how to run a sucessful business at making people feel safe and secure by creating a sense of well-being physically and emotionally. I felt like a curious child exploring among art, collectables and playful nick-knacks (which are all for sale,by the way). Beds on Clouds is certainly a gem of a B&B.

My wife Mary Jo and I stayed here the last week of June 2012. We were attending my nieces wedding at Hunter Mt . but their accommodations were a little too steep for us.Finding Beds on Clouds on Trip Advisor was was a godsend. How lucky we were, for here nestled in the Catskill Mountains in the quaint little town of Windham we were to have one of our most enjoyable weekends in our 22 years together.Even though we changed our number of people from 3 to 2 during the last hour of our 9 hour drive from Cleveland and inconvenienced our host Rebecca, who had added an extra bed for us, she was far more gracious upon our arrival than I would have been had someone done that to me.Each morning we were greeted cheerfully and awaiting us at the dining room table was a platter of succulent, fresh fruits, oven hot croissant and wonderful, strong, aromatic coffee. This was followed by a delicious fresh vegetable omelette one day and delicious potato frittata the next. Her husband is a wonderful, creative chef and you may even see him if he comes out for his coffee. Rebecca was a treasure trove of interesting conversation that ranged from the art scene in N.Y.C. (did you know Andy Warhol collected cookie jars ) and there is one on a shelf in the dining room, to health and nutrition, to the swapping of wonderful life experiences. Our guests at the table were skateboarders from around the world who were boarding down Windham Mt. in a week long competition.I call that making the most of your mountain,(which is only a block or two away). Our room was perfect with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on.Her husbands art studio is one of the last ones in town and is a part of the house. It was hard to believe that just a year before Windham was a federal disaster area after flash floods from the hurricane devastated the town. This wonderful little town, with its friendly, welcoming population and our gracious hosts, in the face of what they have recently endured define the term " Backbone of America." I hope to return here in August with my daughter Meghan on our way to her college in New Hampshire. P.S: Rebecca, I happened to like the cheetah wallpaper and the clouds on the ceiling....see you soon...Mary Jo, Skip, and Meghan Von Hassel........

Room Tip: I spied a wonderful room on the ground floor just off the art studio. I will request this room next...

We're still savoring the delicious, beautifully presented breakfasts, the intimate decor, and our warm and gracious hosts. They were great resources for activities in the area. We were fortunate to have stayed in the detached, renovated barn overlooking lovely gardens. Slept soundly on our king-sized feather mattress. A wholey tasteful, comfortable and satisfying time. We couldn't recommend Beds on Clouds more highly. Harvey and Linda

My girlfriend and I stayed here for an evening the weekend of Memorial Day 2012. We would not recommend it. While Rebecca was friendly, the house was not what we expected. The room was not at all romantic (imagine a mix of clouds, tacky cheetah wallpaper, Japanese samurai rug, and tacky art). The bathroom was beautiful, albeit ruined due to the fact that the artwork was made with magic marker. Additionally the atmosphere downstairs was very weird (creepy figurines, pictures of Seigfried and Roy throughout). Our A/C wasn't working at first but Rebecca's husband came and fixed it although when he did so he was STANDING ON OUR BED, SHEETS PULLED DOWN, WITH DIRTY BARE FEET. In the morning there was an odd smell in the dining area, while the food tasted ok the smell detracted. Rebecca also stood there for close to an hour recounting how she left East Berlin at 16 to come to America. While I LOVE history, this was a very heavy conversation and it did not lend itself at all to a romantic getaway. There are better places to stay and I'd recommend a hotel over this property.

Set expectations can very easily mislead and obscure the view of what is in front of you. "Beds on Clouds" is a Bed and Breakfast at Susumu Sato's (Japanese born) and Rebecca Segerstrom's (German born) home and their professional photography and fine art gallery. The romance of the bedroom in question is named "Storm Clouds "with a cloud motif hand-painted on the ceiling to give the impression of being in the beautiful spaciousness of Windham's mountains and follows its trade mark "Land in the Sky".

The pale green walls have a small wall paper corniche of playful Cheetas giving a whimsical clue to our guests to be on the alert for more "young at heart"reminders. The bedding is colorful, luxurious and inviting especially when the beds are put together. The art works here are created by personally known, internationally acclaimed artists from Italy and Poland, even the art work in the bathroom. Art, in any form, is a personal view and these, as well as the others throughout the home and gallery are unique and original.

There is a reference to a particular rug in this room as a "Japanese Samurai rug". What is is a hand knotted wool rug with a design of two playful dragons. The Japanese are not known for using dragons in any form of art and definitely did not make this rug.

The first floor is an adventure in viewing many forms of art. The collection of World Celebrities and Politicians does include documentary photos of Susumu's and Rebecca's privileged visits to Siegfried's and Roy's homes with their white tigers and where they were performing.

Susumu related the incident to me about fixing the air conditioner in the "Storm Clouds" room while the guests were present. He demonstrated how he stepped on the bed's frame and leaned over the headboard to reach the air conditioner. Like many living on the mountain top, shoes are left outside to keep the dust and dirt out of the house. Susumu had been working in his organic garden earlier in the day and his bare feet, though wiped thoroughly, could have still looked dirty. He related how he conversed with the quests about the air conditioner and specifically asked if everything else was OK. They responded in such a way that Susumu was assured that all was well.

The carpet in the dining room was recently dry cleaned. It had not been recognized by the staff as having an odor . It will be looked into.

Conversations among the guests with the proprietors, especially at breakfast time, does bring up a wealth of topics due to the variety of guests and their interests, and the mired experiences of the owners. A suggestion to the hostess, Rebecca, that a quieter place could have suited their needs better and could have been easily provided ,as the outdoor rear deck is in a serene location overlooking the garden.

The cornucopia of possible experiences at "Beds on Clouds" depends on communication and an openness to explore and share. Bed and Breakfast accommodations anywhere are unique unto themselves.

To fulfill these guests expectation obviously wasn't possible. Then they are correct at suggesting a hotel would have suited them better.

P.S. A Special Message from Rebecca Segerstrom and Susumu Sato: "It saddens us tremendously to know that this couple has been so unhappy in our Bed and Breakfast. It is unfortunate that the only conversation between these guests and us were compliments and assurances that "all is fine". We are always ready to make our guest''s stay the best possible. Our staff is industrious and prized for their detailed presentation and cleanliness. Pointing out their supposed lack would have been a help to us all. We are open to listening and sharing to our guests' requests, inquiries and curiosities. We have much to share.

My girlfriend and I escaped the city for the weekend and booked Friday and Saturday night at Beds on Clouds. This is exactly what we look for in a bed and breakfast - come here and you won't be disappointed.

Some highlights...
- The house - beautiful from the outside with flowers and a big porch...right in the middle of town, ideal location. We stayed in the "Sunset" room and found it be elegantly decorated with plenty of room and extremely clean & comfortable. The bed is a dream.
- The owner - Rebecca is fantastic! She is certainly a character and will welcome you with open arms into her home. She has a ton of knowledge and experiences to chat about....we loved interacting with her. Some people have said in previous posts that she was difficult.....she has a personality and some people want a key & a room and that's it.....well if that is what you want, then don't come to a bed and breakfast. She is the best.
- The food - her husband makes some of the best omlettes we've had...very accomodating for vegetarians. Eggs, croissants, fruit, coffee/tea, etc.....delicious food.
- Activities - she can help point you in the right direction with things to do .....we went to the caverns one day and then did some hiking the next. Rebecca is very helpful, and again...extremely knowledgable.

This is the kind of place that I would come back to.....summer or winter. Windham is beautiful in the summer time and has some amazing things to do outside...come visit.

My wife and I just spent our first anniversary at Beds on Clouds. What a beautiful stay we had. Our room was very nice and the bed was comfy too. My wife loved the newly remodeled bathroom adorned with marble tiles and gold fixtures. I liked the walkin shower. Each morning Rebecca and her husband had a beautiful breakfast waiting for us in the common room. We enjoyed talking to the owners who made us feel like family. My hats off to both of them. We can't wait to return again...
