As we waited to be seated, I noticed a french fry laying on the floor, and surprisingly the hostess walked right by it to take us to our table. On the floor under our table there was a knife loaded with ketchup and a bunch of large croutons, left by a previous customer- who knows how long ago? As the sun set over the marina, the floor lit up with several similar objects..... totally ignored by the waitstaff as well as the manager walking table to table asking some people how they were enjoying their meal. The floor is wood..... would it have killed them to occasionally run a broom around the place? It made me wonder if they are so bad with cleanliness on the floors the customers can see, what does the kitchen floor look like? I have never seen such an array of food on a restaurant floor in my life.
The meal was just OK, the prices were not at all commensurate with the skimpy wine list and the server who seldom checked on the table. In the bathroom, waste baskets were overflowing with paper towels and the floors were obviously rarely mopped.
Everything on the menu is a la carte. The bowl of chowder for $6 is a great deal. It's really good. The carrot cake for $6 is not so great, unless you really like frosting. (It makes up about 50% of the cake). We had the salmon and the mahi mahi, which were both good- not great. The view of the marina was nice, and we had a table by the window.
My first pot of tea was fine, but I wish they brought a new tea bag for the refill. I just got more hot water.
The mahi came served on plaintains, which were like eating salted strips of nothing, and I would have preferred one of the many sides (offered a la carte) in their place. We ordered both the grilled veggies and the sweet potato hash as sides, which were both fine. The bread and oil served at the table was disappointing... the bread had large holes and the oil was really watery and had little flavor. The highlight of the meal was definitely the chowder and the fish, which were both nicely prepared.
It was an OK dinner at a restaurant that could be much better- if they hired some more people as servers, spruced up their menu, improved their wine list, and cleaned their floors and bathroom regularly.
