“A short stay can sometimes be a problem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

Go on a 3 day vacation and it could rain. A week vacation and you up your odds.
That is the same from the aroma from the nearby dairy farm.

We go every year for a couple months and advantage ourselves of the regional offerings.
Daisy Barn is great right on the lake with spectacular views in any weather. Love those thunder storms over the lake. The photos you see on their website couldn't paint a better picture..

As for the Dairy farm, for-get-a-bout-it. it only happens 3-4 days a summer. Hey its farm country. As for the grave site, there are a couple of tombstones on the grounds acreage. How one could not see them is a mystery. Besides it adds to the charm.

The website shows pretty pictures, but the reality was poor. Our family of 4 + friends tent camping went in summer 2011. First off, a wonderful aroma of manure directly behind a line of trees, that was constant. NO ONE was out after dark, we soon found out why when the mosquitos attacked, we had fire, citronella, sprays and NOTHING worked. Unable to enjoy a campfire. There was an apartment unit built directly in the middle of the campground, with strong emphasis on "do not disturb" the neighbors... The recreation barn was an outdated, filthy rec room with 1/2 working games and discarded books and games, not manned by anyone. Nothing to do or enjoy there. Shower room was small and dirty. The sunset was gorgeous, but that can be picked up anywhere on the lakeshore with better atmosphere. Dock was covered in geese poo, unable to enjoy even that. Also, the dumpstation was blocked by some tractor wagon, if we had wanted/needed to use it, we would have had to track down the "manager" at her camper to have someone move it! Lovely service. Way too expensive for such a dump. MOst campers were seasonal, don't know why they park it there, appeared mostly seniors. Never to return.

We arrived late one evening, with only 30 minutes to set up the tent, so we did not notice the broken tombstones until it was too late (they looked like stones) I was afraid my daughter would notice and go crazy, but I was able to distract her until the morning. When I asked the staff if they were aware of the tombstones, they said yes, "but nobody has every set up a tent over there!" No offer to refund or make us happy!

Although, there is a beautiful view, it is not a family campground (no lake access, pool or other children. Also, there is an apartmrnt building right in the middle of the "beautiful, open field they are so proud of. . . very strange (like camping on the lawn of an apartment complex!) No firewood anywhere close & no camp store. Way over priced for what you get! We chose to drive through the night other than stay there any longer

My wife and I and our two children, ages 9 and 7, stayed at the Daisy Barn Campground during our visit to the Niagara Falls, NY area. The location is nice. It's about 20 minutes by car from Niagara Falls.

You cannot complain about the setting. The campground is situated on Lake Ontario. There is a gazebo, grills, and a dock near the water. However, there is no swimming available. The sunsets are beautiful.

The campsites are nice with ample shade and the camp hosts are very friendly. There is a very nice bathroom/shower/laundry room, one of the best that I have seen at a campground. The barn itself is a basic rec room with a pool table, board games, a few video games and a TV. It was nice to hang out in the rec room as there are nice comfy lounge chairs in the TV area.

The only complaint that we had is that children are required to be supervised at all times. They had a nice little playground (nothing special) in front of the camp host's camper, but they were quite vocal that the kids needed to be supervised. To their defense, I could see if the kids get down by the lake, no one would see them as it's a relatively steep pitch from the gazebo down to the dock and lake.

Short of that, we had a very nice stay and definitely enjoyed the Niagara Falls area, both the Canadian and US side!
