“Beautiful vistas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

We recently visited Whiteface Mountain and took the gondola to the top of Little Whiteface. We had a gondola to ourselves. Groups didn't seem to have to share. It was a nice leisurely ascent and the views were spectacular- Although it wasn't the peak of autumn foliage, there was still plenty of colorful trees to be seen. Once you get to the top you can walk around a bit and catch the views on the other side of Lake Placid and the other mountains- into Vermont.

“AMAZING VIEW”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

The 5 mile drive up whiteface is beautiful! The view from the top, Breathtaking! I think its a tad expensive ($17 for a car, driver and passenger), but well worth the photos we took up top!

“What a view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

My husband and I did the drive up Whiteface this past week and all i can say is WOW. We have a beautiful day and according to the gentleman who ran the elevator we picked one of the best days in a long time. I was clear and warm and the view were just beautiful. was so cool to walk through the tunnel and go up the elevator and marvel at idea we were inside the mountain . This trip is a must do, the ride over from Lake Placid is also quite nice and the fall secenery was lovely.

“Spectacular viewing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

My 9 year old and I visited just past the peak fall foliage period. A large hay and pumpkin character greeted us at the entrance to the ski park. Still lots of colors to view and we had a beautiful sunny day. The ride up the mountain in the gondola was awesome. The skies were clear and we were able to see for miles around. At the summit, we were treated to more views of the mountain range. There was an area from which to take pictures or you could do some hiking along the ski runs that lead to higher areas of the mountain. Some people had mountain bikes to do this. Not sure if they rented them or they brought their own. The gondola takes about 45 minutes round trip. Not sure which was more breathtaking: the ride up or the ride down the mountain.

“Mountain Ride”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

The highest lookout in New York State. Top of the mountain is absolutely gorgeous. The ride through Veterans Memorial Highway is breath taking. There is a castle where you can decide to hike up to the top of the mountain or there is an elevator for us older people. At the castle there is a souvenir shop and café. We had 45 MPH winds and a temp of 50 degrees when we were on top. There are hand rails to grab onto and a rocky area to climb out to. It was too windy to climb out on the rocks but there were many other hearty people who did climb out. A worth while adventure for those in the area and love mountain tops.
