“great rooms, decor a little over-the-top, but excellent value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2006

Well, when you first pull up to the Garden Place hotel, you have to do a double take to be sure the plane didn't drop you off in Las Vegas by mistake, or maybe you've just found the real location for the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." (For example, in front there's a very large fountain, at least 15 feet or so high, but in January instead of water, they have chaser lights coming from the lion's heads' mouths cascading to the "pools" below!!) They pride themselves on being "ostentacious" at this hotel. But the rooms are outstanding: VERY large, modern, lovely, immaculately clean and quite comfortable. And the "continental" breakfast included hot fried potatos (delicious!) scrambled eggs and tropical fruit salad along with the usual sweet rolls and coffee. They even offer free capuchinos around-the-clock in the hallway alcoves for guests! All-in-all an excellent value -- a room that large in a standard business hotel in any major city would cost three times the price without breakfast. Also, other reviewers' comments on the Christmas display in the restaurant are absolutely correct -- it is a bit much, and you have to wonder just what decade we are in, but really I wish my sainted mother could have seen it, she would have thought it was the most beautiful thing she'd ever seen! Food in the restaurant was a bit of a disappointment, rather pricey and not the best, but I suppose we are paying some for the "atmosphere." Be sure to check out the Barbie Doll collection in the ladies room in the restaurant -- it's a hoot.

Not bad. Rather gaudy, but nothing special. Quite overpriced. For nearly $200 a night, I expected more than a chinsy continental breakfast of Krispy Kreme donuts, and some help with the luggage would have been nice.

We were extending our weekend and decided to stay here. We took advantage of one of the packages that were offered. Everything was great...from the time we checked in to when we checked out. We had a basic room and it overlooked the courtyard area. It was very clean and quiet. We will surely come again for a weekend getaway.

We take a mini vacation here minimum 4 times a year and treat ourselves to one of their packages -- WOW, what value ! ! Love this hotel, such elegance and class ! Rooms are ALWAYS sparkling clean, regular rooms are larger than the norm. Showers are huge with electronic temperature control. Dinner is superb with a shuttle service to the restaurant and buffet/continental breakfast is wonderful. A great place to visit at anytime of year. Christmas is a must, it's like a fairytale, everything is sparkling -- in very good taste. We highly recommend it -- we have not stayed anywhere else in the Buffalo area since we discovered it some 3 years ago, why would we ? ? Also very close to airport & good shopping. My wife and I make a point to go every year for our anniversary. It is the perfect short trip. We live in syracuse, so it is a nice 2 hour drive...but you just feel like you are on vacation. The staff is the nicest, and most helpful ever. The rooms are always in excellent shape. We find every year the decor gets more and more "fancy". Even if you are not into their decorating sense, it is so elaborate that you just have to smile and appreciate the owners vison. I highly recommend the jazuzzi suite and dinner packages...the only way we go. You can not beat the price. Dinner is fantastic...they make sure you feel like a king and queen. I can't say enough. We love it more every year.

My husband and I went away on a long weekend . We discovered the Garden Place on the internet and were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The staff was very helpful and attentive and we had a great time . I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The rooms were very nice and the atmosphere was fun.
Not your run of the mill hotel.

We discovered The Garden Place quite by accident a couple of years ago. We were flying out of Buffalo and were staying overnight in a nearby hotel. This particular hotel looked very different from the others on the strip and so we stopped in and picked up a brochure. I can't say how happy I was we did that as we have been going there overnight at least twice a year. They have very affordable packages (especially on Sunday nights) where your room, dinner and breakfast are included. There are a few different types of rooms from the basic up to suites. We usually ask for a jacuzzi room.

The decor is, as other reviewers have said, gaudy and not to my taste, but very clean and well maintained. You know that they have taken a lot of time and attention to detail. The front desk and housekeeping are very accomodating and friendly. The only thing I would change is the max. temperature coming from the shower. It is electronic, which is great, but only goes to 98 degrees, a little cool for most of us.

The draw for us is the dinner. A shuttle bus takes you to the restaurant on time for your reservation so there is no need for a designated driver. The restaurant is a throwback to the 60's and 70's when people dressed for dinner and really valued ambiance. The staff are exceptional, extremely helpful and professional. The food here never disappoints and is superior or on par to many 4 or 5 star establishments we have dined at.

Christmas is not a time to miss at Salvatore's. I was in awe at the twinkling lights-very tastefully done-I felt like I was in a fairy tale! People were coming in to the reception area just to have their pictures taken in this wonderland.

We are going back tomorrow for another overnight getaway and I can't wait!
