Since we go to Buffalo for shopping on a regular basis and stay at Salvatore's whenever we can (meaning it books up quickly so you have to book in advance!) I thought it was about time I shared some thoughts on this property. As I said, we're from Toronto so we head down there regularly to do some cross border shopping.
The location is good - it's on Transit Road, near Genesee (and near the Buffalo International Airport) so if you are taking a U.S. flight somewhere, do stay at Salvatore's - they have a shuttle to the airpot as well (which is about a 5 min drive).
Salvatore's is really gorgeous - it's decorated like an Italian villa. The rooms are large, clean and neat (a bit on the 80's side of decorating LOL and no offence to the owners of Salvatores !!!) It's nice, and we find that quite often, the jacuzzi suites are comparable in price to the regular suites, so if you feel like it, just inquire about the jacuzzi suite. You might be pleasantly surprised at the small cost difference.
Sometimes, we have been there and the jacuzzi rooms can smell just a tad musty - the rooms have carpet so of course, this is to be expected. Having said that, though, the rooms are very clean and comfortable so don't let that discourage you.
Salvatore's is obviously hooked up with the Italian Restaurant Salvatore's just down the road on Transit. I understand that guests of Salvatore's hotel can get dinner specials although we have never done that so best to inquire at the front desk.
The staff are very friendly! Check in is always very courteous and prompt.
Overnight guests get a complimentary buffet breakfast - a nice touch of course.
The hotel is surrounded by green space. If the parking lot is quiet, you can see deers in the woods. Kinda neat, being in the city & all. We find the hotel is very, very quiet at night. Great for a good night's sleep.
Of course the prices will vary depending on the time of year you go - summer seems to be most expensive down there. And really, if you want to stay @ Salvatore's Italian Garden Hotel, do book AHEAD of time. It's virtually impossible to get in there last minute unless you're extremely lucky! This is a popular place, with good reason.
It's close to Easter Hills Mall and about a 10-15 minute car ride to Walden Galleria Mall and all the shops near there.
This is a good spot - check it out if you go. Any questions, don't hesitate to drop me a line. Happy shopping (or Buffalo Wings or whatever!) :)
Just ASK ... a jacuzzi suite might be available at a reasonable rate. You never know till you ask!
