“would go back”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2011

we stayed here while visiting the niagra falls. it was a very nice, comfotable, neat and clean hotel and the decor was very pretty as well.
it was a bit of a drive to the falls.. but well worth it!

the only negative was... we had a room far away from the elevator and my mother in law found it very hard to climb up and down as she has knee problems!

Room Tip: ask for a room near the elevator if you or someone in the family has difficulty in going up and down...

Arrived fairly late and were given a room with a cot which we didn't need . Went back and got another room, the key cards would not work. Back down to the lobby someone else was there having trouble with their cards as well. Very nice person on the desk came back up with me and said they have been having a lot of trouble with their key card machine. From previous reviews it looks like this has been going on for awhile. Hotel is clean and they do try to maintain it , very over the top Italian decor. Breakfast is always very busy but they do have real plates and silverware. Food is standard but go to the end of the of buffet and there is a pancake machine that basically shoots out pancakes. Kids love it! There are small touches like free coffee and capuccino machines on every floor.
Beds could use an upgrade and the sheets are really thin. We will probably stay here again if we get a good rate.

The key card machine was out of our control it was a computer malfunction. However we now have new key card machines and everything is running like usual. Thank you for choosing the garden place hotel.

I stayed in this hotel in December. Thought we would do some shopping in Buffalo for the weekend before Christmas. I was pleasantly surprised. From the look of the exterior we did not know what to expect. The rooms are quite spacious. Now that can depend on what room you stay in. I had the Emperor Suite with a jacuzzi. The bed was so comfortable. One of the best relaxing nights I have ever experienced in a hotel. We had the breakfast that was included with our stay and it was good. I would love to come back in the summer. The staff were professional and courteous. The price was mid range and up for the rooms. Tried the gym which I always make use of and it was alright for the size and the equipment. I would definitely recommend it.

Stayed here 6 years ago with pleasant exp then so reserved again this trip. Conveniently located for travel to/from airport, Buffalo, etc. Booked through AMX and no reservation problem but lady checking in next to me booked through the hotel and they didn't have her reservation. So.. confirm reservation. Hotel has not been updated since last stay. Is still quite amusing and kind of tacky with the Faux Italian Village in the Atrium, amusingly large chandelier in lobby, and dust collectors all over. Reserved large jacuzzi room; room average; very dark even with all the many lights on; walk in shower with wall soap and shampoo dispensers handy; bathroom fan sounded like a snowblower though and area where shower/toilet is was much too dark. Rug in room had a vew visible marks (looked like bleach spills) but room so dim that you couldn't tell if total rug needed cleaning. Bed linens felt old; sink not pleasant with lots of marks in it. Hallways and public areas much too dim. Full hot breakfast a bonus and good. Overall - average stay - would stay again if able to get same price.

Room Tip: Check website; request specifically for jacuzzi's if you want one; confirm reservation.

This was a fun experience. The statuary outside and inside the hotel is great, sort of Italian rococo-style. We stated in one of the King jacuzzi rooms, and I've never seen anything quite like it. The bathroom itself only has a toilet and huge button-operated double shower. On your right as you come into the room is the sink, and as you're approaching the king bed at the far side, you come around the corner past the sink and find a full-sized jacuzzi tub for two! Since the hotel doesn't have a swimming pool, you can just put on your suits and have some fun in the tub. A self-serve breakfast buffet in the atrium lobby is included. Don't miss the pancake machine, as it is situated by itself farther down the breakfast room. Only drawback in the accomodation is that the pillows are extremely large, so you can get a sore neck.

The ONLY reason I stayed here is because the whole city was sold out due to the bar exam being in town. The cost was outrageous and the place is like a bad mini-version of a cheap Opryland. The rooms are completely average and very dated. I needed to use my laptop for business but the signal was too weak...and they even moved me to a room closer to the lobby but it didn't help. Also, the room card keys did not work, requiring me to go back to the front desk repeatedly. The place would have been funny if I had not been charged New York City rates for my room. Being gouged is not fun.

We stayed here two nigts and commuted to downtown Buffalo in the mornings (20 min drive and there is no traffic). The hotel is in a good locatino, right by highway and close to airport. It was clean and comfy with a more than adequate breakfast- you can really fill up (eggs, ham, sausages, oatmeal, waffles, pancakes, toast, muffins,pb, cereal and usual refreshments). Overall the decor is tacky but kind of cute (lotsof details everywhere and they seem to loooooove mirrors), but who really cares what it looks like when you're sleeping. The morning calls didn't work so well (once they called 45 minutes early and the next day they didn't call at all..lol..) thankfully we had 3 other alarms set. The hotel has a small gym with a handful of cardio equipment and one weight machine.. also a sauna ! Would recommend the hotel for passersy by or if you're flying out. Wouldn't really stay here for the "experience" but rather just to crash. Oh, free WiFi in rooms. Overall v. good impression!
