My first thought: $12.95 per day for Internet access? Seriously? This "perk" should be standard in any hotel. In fact, the closest food (read: non-hotel-high-priced-fare) is 5 miles away down the Interstate! (FYI, don't follow your GPS to Main Street in White Plains. You'll find just paid parking and gridlock, and a parade (!!) when I wandered into it.. Head the other way to Port Chester.)
Good stuff: reasonably friendly staff (although just one on duty at the front counter at 6 PM), nicely appointed room, reasonably comfortable bed (typical Marriott; i.e. not a Hilton), nice TV selection on the huge wide screen (and it's set up right so everyone doesn't look 4 feet or 10 feet tall).
The nitpicks (and the Internet price is not a nitpick, but an insult): Not near anything; bizarre location behind some office buildings up a long and winding road --- I never would have found it without a GPS, and even then it was confusing in daylight; worse at night. Dark parking lot only accessible quite a distance from check-in (rooms are separate from the rest of the hotel). Some construction going on in one wing, so those huge vehicles are taking up prime parking spots. Only one unsecured entryway to the hotel from the long and narrow parking lot (not locked at night, apparently, as there is no keycard access unit). Then more long walking inside; I felt like hailing a cab for use inside the hotel. Couldn't they afford more than one entry and set of elevators when they built the place (and I counted just 2 elevators)? No electrical outlet easily accessible from the bed. My Mac laptop's cord was stretched to the limit after I finally found an empty one under the window. If I had a Windows machine, I'd be sitting on the floor to type, or in the not-too-comfy arm chair? Uncomfortable armless desk chair. Toilet dripping internally and "whooshing" every few minutes; had to close the door to mask it.
Luckily here for just one night. This ain't no Hilton or even a Marriott. Certainly not a 4-star property. 3.5 max, and that's being nice.
