“Historical charm and stunning location!”

Loved the atmosphere and the history. Second time staying here. The Sunday brunches are ridiculously indulgent. The grounds are beautiful. Perfect for a weekend getaway or wedding venue. Will come back.

The Thayer Hotel represents a sanctuary steeped in history and comfort for me. When I was a cadet it was like a castle on the hill...now it still represents a castle on the hill but I
am treated like the "King". It is very nice being the "King"!!

Room Tip: any room is a good room...I prefer the presidential suite!

We booked one of the largest suites in the executive wing and regrettably what we discovered was far from that. It was a room rather than a suite, we even had difficulty in getting to the other side of the bed it was that tight. The bed was soft beyond proper restfulness, squeaked constantly and sagged in the middle. The bathroom was spartan to say the least and the list goes on. Clearly they have a captive market, however they also need to learn to deliver quality for the price.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the bed, and that you were disastified with the room type that you stayed in. Thank you for alerting us to your concern about the bed - our engineering team is in the process of checking all of the beds and mattresses in the suite wing - we are commmited to provding excellent service and when guests bring issues to our attention, we give it our full attention. We are sorry that we didn't know about your concerns while you were staying with us, we would have been delighted to move you into a room that you would have been more comfortable in. Based on your description, it does not sound like you were in our Executive Super Suite or Executive Junior Suite, which are our largest rooms types, aside from the Presidential Suite. Our historic hotel's structure provides a very unique stay for our guests, and we are delighted that you enjoyed that history. Because of the shape of our historic building, our rooms are uniquely shaped, and the historic memorabilia in our Room Dedication Rooms (dedicated to the most honorable and notable West Point graduates) make every room memorable and different than guests will find anywhere else in the world. We hope that you will come stay with us again soon to enjoy a different one of our rooms and the excellent service that are a landmark of The Historic Thayer Hotel at West Point.

In the area of West Point, NY, there is no other choice than the Thayer. Count on staying at the Thayer when in the Hudson valley and be assured of a comfortable time there. And don't miss the two-hour tour which includes the ancient cemetery on the grounds.

Room Tip: Be sure to have your room facing the Hudson River, and despite the cautionary mention of the trains...

Glorious old hotel overlooking the Hudson on the grounds of USMA, West Point. Fabulous brunch. Great food and dining. If you are going to stay in West Point then you must book at least one night at The Thayer...a Grand Hotel from a former era.

Room Tip: ask for a room overlooking the Hudson on the upper floors.

We stayed at the Thayer Hotel which is inside of West Point. Service was excellent from the moment we checked in until the time we left. King room had beautiful view of Buffalo Soldiers Field and very nice amenities, like refrigerator(I am a diabetic] and terrific beauty products,a wonderful Keurig coffee machine and very comfortable bed and pillows.I was not charged for fridge. We ate at both the Gen.McArthurs restaurant and Gen.Pattons tavern. Food was good in tavern, but superb in restaurant. Brunch buffet Saturday was excellent, but the sunday Champagne brunch(endless) was a work of art, carving station, omelette station, chafing dishes with salmon, chicken, pasta, frittata etc mad for an elegant and filling experience. Hotel staff was very helpful and courteous. All in all a wonderful 3day weekend!!!

Room Tip: You must bring some kind of ID to get in to hotel, drivers license and you must show every time you e...

The Thayer Hotel at West Point is just inside the first gate at the Military Academy. The hotel is a throwback to another time but has been updated to the point that they have sensor lighting in all of the spaces to save on energy. The service is top shelf and the facility is like walking back into another time but very well maintained. The rooms may be described as a bit small but they are adequate and very comfortable, with midsized modernized bathrooms. The service is impeccable both in the hotel and restaurants. The facility is a beautiful piece of architecture and is very warm and inviting. The place is very busy with meetings and weddings and is located on the edge of the Village of Highland which is a quaint village with shops and restaurants. It’s also walking distance from the military museum where you could spend hours. Bring a picture ID to get through the gate, it is a very active military installation, there is a second security check point to go through if driving further on to the Academy grounds. A beautiful location on the banks of the Hudson River. The facility is steeped in military history and it thrills to think of the famous military people who may have stayed there. The restaurant is first class and top shelf, the food is excellent and served by a well trained staff. I can’t say enough good things about this venue. A great place for a meeting or a wedding, or perhaps a quiet get away with some exploring. It’s off the beaten path so make sure you plan your route or have a gps, its mountainous terrain to get there, by design. Oh yes there is a train that goes through several times a day, down at the bottom of the hill next to the river runs the north south freight tracks, if you let it bother you, you will hear it, if not, it just blends in, don’t let this keep you away. Parking is also a bit different, check in at the front door at the top of the hill, either they or you will have to park in the lot across the street, no big deal. Handicap parking is right in front. A gem of a hotel, steeped in history.

Room Tip: The east side has views of the river, the west side the Village of Highland and the West Point campu...
