For someone from Texas and the West, a trip to the Hudson River Valley is a huge eye-opener. I was astounded by the views from Trophy Point overlooking the Hudson River and the steep cliffs. We took a one-hour bus tour that included the Cadet Chapel and a drive through the campus. Green lawns and historic buildings and homes. We just happened to be across the street at Trophy Point when a cadet proposed to his girlfriend--that was cool. We were there on a Friday before a home game--excitement in the air. I think it was even Army vs. Navy! Be aware that there are no bus tours on the day of football games, so check the schedule. Also be aware that you cannot make advance reservations except for very large parties. We wanted to take the 2-hour bus tour, but it was sold out when we arrived 45 minutes ahead of the start time. Luckily, we were able to take the 1-hour tour. Lastly and most importantly, you must pay cash!!!! for the bus tour. They do not accept checks or credit cards. I don't think this was stated on their website--very important piece of information!
