“Superb B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2013

What a great treat to hit upon this wonderful accommodation with such welcoming and friendly hosts. Pam and Rob couldn't do enough for us and it was such a shame we couldn't extend our stay. Rob gave us a great insight to the history of the area via a 30 min walk. Pam spent time helping us to locate other accommodation for our trip. Everything spotless and delicious breakfast.

Thanks so much for your kind words. The pleasure was all ours; how easy it is to make friends in this business. So glad you enjoyed the walk with Rob, his enthusiasm for this area is 'catching'! That and his ability to recall the facts never ceases to amaze. Hope the weather stayed nice for your trip South. All the best for a successful 'crossing' and the rest of your travels on the South Island. Have a Happy Christmas and all the best for 2014.

We stayed in the Sunflower Cottage with our two children. The hosts were extremely friendly and honest with us. The room was the cleanest we've ever stayed in. Everything was thought of, right down to the little details. Excellent safety for kids - they had installed a stairwell railing and provided toys for us. The location to the ferry to get to Whitianga is literally a one minute walk. This was a wonderful place to stay. Would recommend with or without children.

Thank you so much for your kind review. With 2 young children and never enough time in the day so to read this was such a pleasure and truly appreciated. We are so glad you enjoyed your short break from a busy Auckland. Your children were delightful & it was a pleasure to share our 'piece of heaven' with you. Thank you again for recommending us in this way. We hope to see you again sometime soon. Have a wonderful Christmas and all the best for 2014.

We have just had a delightful stay at Ferry Landing Lodge. Pam and Rob could not have been more friendly and helpful and it all felt very genuine. We learnt a lot about the area and Rob's walk is a must, he certainly knows his early New Zealand history - he even had us Kiwis spellbound! They are both obviously fantastic in the garden and Pam certainly loves her pereserves - all from the property. The breakfast was wonderful and interesting - we felt we could have just hung in there for the whole morning! However the area called and we had a wonderful time 'doing' the sights and walks around and really enjoyed coming back to Ferry Landing Lodge after each outing. Comfortable beds and really clean and tidy. A must for anyone.

We thoroughly enjoyed meeting you all this past weekend; it was a pleasure to provide you with bed and breakfast for a family reunion. Sunny weather, bush walks, hot springs, enjoyable meal times & happy laughter around the breakfast table, it was fun for us as well. Your mum @ 88 was/is amazing.! She now holds the title of oldest person to complete the Wigmore Walk to the top of historic Whitianga Rock, last held by another amazing 82 year old! A fantastic example of how to enjoy each day, no matter what age and we admired her immensely. We look forward to hopefully seeing to see you back again some time in the future and thanks again for sending feedback for which we are always grateful. Please send our regards to Eggie and the others. cheers..

A very comfortable stay in a charming location. Pam and Robert were excellent hosts, shared lots of local knowledge, and even leant us towels and spades for the beach. View from the Harbor View room is fabulous, and at sunrise we saw two parrots eating from one of the many fruit trees in the garden. The garden supplies delicious fruit that Pam makes into the jams she serves at breakfast, a real treat. We really were treated as friends here, which we love... but be prepared to mingle with the hosts, as that is definitely part of the experience at this B&B. We also appreciated this B&B's location... just steps from the passenger ferry to Whitianga, but also a very easy drive to Cathedral Cove and Hot Water Beach, which were our prime attractions to the area.

Thanks so much for your feedback and generous comments. So glad you got to enjoy some of the birds that frequent this area. We don't see these colourful parrots in the early morning, usually busy getting organised for breakfast! They are quite fascinating to watch though.

So glad you enjoyed your short stay and the home preserves; we really enjoyed meeting you both and hope the rest of your NZ holiday was equally enjoyable. Thanks again for taking time out to send feedback like this. Its so helpful and much appreciated.

What a fantastic experience Ferry Landing Lodge was! The owners Rob and Pam were such a delight! Knowledgeable and friendly - the scenery/location was to die for!

The bathroom of the Bourganville Suite was HUGE! and the beds were super comfortable!

You get access to a local nature walk/tour if you stay, which is free!

Pam makes her own jam and jars her own produce that you get to enjoy for breakfast!

Highly recommend it! Only a 2 min ride across the Harbour to Whitianga - where I also recommend you eat at Motu Kitchen!!! You won't regret your trip if you stay here and eat there!!

Thanks so much for taking time out to send feedback, and such positive feedback too! We really enjoyed meeting you both and for Rob, the walk is his chance to share the history of the area to enthused visitors. Thank you for recommending us on TripAdvisor, it is really important and yet so easily overlooked because of our busy lives. I have started to send myself reminders to send in reviews now that I know how important it is for small business. Hope we get to see you again some time, maybe a bit longer next time so you can use the kayak and bikes!! cheers..

A real gem - every aspect of our stay was perfect - wonderful hosts, Rob and Pam, a spotlessly clean apartment, idyllic location with easy ferry access to Whitianga a short stroll away, lovely walks and close to amazing beaches and spectacular scenery. Pam's breakfast, full of home made goodies, was delicious. Rob and Pam have the unique ability to make you feel part of their home - we look forward to returning for a longer stay.

Room Tip: Book early in summer months as there are only 3 apartments

Thank you so much for taking time out to send your feedback to tripadvisor. After a holiday, there's always so much to do! It's always such a pleasure meeting folks like you. Our most enjoyable experiences have a 'connection' of sorts which does comes from the 'people we've met. Staying in a B&B usually provides this.

'Connecting' with others in such a 'short time' with like-minded people is special so thanks again for being relaxed and responsive. We would love to see you both again sometime in the future. Perhaps we should have a BBQ next time. My 'day has begun with a 'warm fuzzy', so we hope you too have a lovely day.

Rob and Pams bed and breakfast made an excellent final three nights in new zealand prior to our flights back to the uk. Don't go here if you like a cooked breakfast but the fruits , muesli and breads coupled with the great selection of jams and honey was quite enough. We stayed in the harbour view room which is in the top of the house and overlooks the harbour and great for sunsets . Lovely bathroom next door. Robs "wigmore walk" to the local historical sites is something we recommend as a "filler" post brekkie and prior to your days activities.

So glad you arrived back safely and the flight not too arduous. Thank you for you lovely comments and high 'score' which was reciprocated. We're so glad we got the chance to meet you both and we had fun chatting too.

So glad you enjoyed the 'wigmore walk', its actually a 'warm up' for the days activities and Rob's chance to explain the 'hidden gems' that are easily missed if just walking the track.

We were impressed with your 'management skills', achieving a balance of rest and relaxation prior to a long flight, and yet still enjoy the Coromandel highlights. That's not easy to accomplish. Hope your summer is what it should be, warm, sunny and long. Thanks again for your feedback.
