“Lovely!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

We really enjoyed our spacious, well priced, sunny & quiet room. Also loved the peep of the sea (hubby could watch the boats going out; apparently that is quite exciting...)
We will definately come back again; recommend this property highly.

Room Tip: We requested a quiet room and got upgraded (I believe) to an upstairs room at the end of the buildin...

Great upstairs unit with view of the sea to watch sun rise and the boats coming and going. Modern/clean unit with a sky movie and sport channel - enjoyed super 15 rugby and a movie. Short walk to town - very safe at night to walk around, locals in the shops very friendly and had great meals at Restaurants (salt in particular).
A visit to the "Lost Spring" thru the back gate, while pricey still a must do and found getting there just before dark thru until the flood lights came on was awesome.
Use of tennis court and pool added bonus.
Would definitely come again - work mates are keen to try it soon.

Room Tip: Upstairs unit 17 great views!

Dear Ray B, thank you for your comments. Salt is a fabulous restaurant, they do all the weddings in Whitianga. Another one to try is Motu Kitchen on Mill Road - Very Good too and only a few minutes walk from Beachside Resort. Regards Bruce.

One night stay in an upper story room. We had a view of the water between 2 properties. Small but clean rooms and the grounds are tidy etc. Handy to get to the Lost Spring and walking distance to shops and cafes. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly. I agree with previous comments that the décor could do with a spot of colour .. art work or even a couple of bright cushions for the couch or bed? Not a biggie but would be an advantage I think. I know previous suggestions have been to get sheer drapes for privacy/sun issues ... there are some very funky coloured ones of those around now .. they no longer have to be the horrible white nets of days gone! (Maybe some with a bit of silver or something??)

Dear OutandAboutnz - Great comments - we have taken on-board the comments about colour and are in the process of add some pictures and cushions to the apartments, the nets are still 50/50 some people like, some people dont - but thanks anyway. Regards Bruce.

Hi we had a wonderful time at the Beachside Resort where we went to enjoy our 22nd wedding anniversary. The hotel is very near the beach, (not the best view of it) and close to the resuarants and amenities etc.

The manager was very pleasant and helpful and showed us the best restaurants and cafes which were great.

The only thing we did not like was the couch was very uncomfortable to sit on, as it was a fold out bed,

We had 3 nights kiddie free after my hubby was in Auckland for work so we decided to head up to the Coromandel. A lovely young lady at the local iSite directed us to the Beachside Resort and we were so happy with the recommendation.

The room was spotless, well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Awesome views from the front room and verandah (we were on the top floor), 5min walk from everything. We didn't get in our car until we had to drive back to the airport. Housekeeping was lovely and as a side-note the bathroom products were really nice, strange I know :)

I really couldn't fault it at all, our room had a comfortable sitting room with tv and a spare single bed, separate bedroom and bathroom. As soon as we arrived we said "we're coming back and we're bringing the kids"... hopefully we'll be back sooner than later.

Room Tip: Top floor, there's no lift but the views are worth it.

The apartment was spacious, modern and spotless. It was in a great location on the shores of the bay and only a minutes walk from shopping and restaurants. We were able to borrow DVDs and to use the laundry facilities. There is no lift to the first floor accomodation.

This is comfortable motel/self catering accommodation that you would expect at the beach.

The owners were lovely, and so friendly, particularly when our car alarm kept going off in the middle of the night - very patient!

The rooms were comfortable, and had everything you needed for a self catering stay. The rooms were however a little dark, despite having French windows the entire length of the living room.

Unfortunately our room was encased between 2 car parks, the front and the back, so had people walking passed our ground floor unit. We even had a couple of people sit out the front of our room at one point whilst we were reclining on the day bed inside. Not very relaxing.

Although the place is across the road from the beach, I wouldn't exactly call it beachside. As stated, we had a view of the car park, despite facing the general direction of the beach. The upper floor units however may have a better view. I think I may just be a little spoilt though with regard to hotels, so a 3 minute walk to the beach is just a bit too much effort for my liking. Call it laziness!

We didn't sleep the night we were there, but I think that was more to do with our car alarm, rather than the comfort of the room! We couldn't work out why it kept going off though, and did eventually suspect foul play by kids... There were a lot stating at the resort. There also seemed to be a lot of people living there full time...

All in all, a great base for the area, a very comfortable stay, with very friendly owners who's main desire is to ensure that you are happy.

Room Tip: Upper level may have views of the beach. Ground floor rooms face the car park.

Dear MelindaMulberry - thank you for writing a review for Beachside Resort. I am sorry you had a car alarm that played up, we have never had any issues with foul play - the resident children are very well behaved. We are on beach side of Oceans Resort hence the name. Rooms are marketed Oceans and Oceans View and yes the Oceans View does have the view, they cost a little more and the Oceans are more affordable for those on a budget. Gill and Russ, our managers with many years experience, welcome you back to stay and enjoy an upstairs rooms. Regards Bruce.
