“Very lovely place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2012

My boyfriend and I stayed at Pipi Dune B&B last weekend and it was very lovely! The host Vern and Joan are so friendly and they gave us valuable advice for our trip. We went to Lost Spring at night with fluffy bathrobes and towels supplied by the B&B. It definitely saved us lots of money! Although it was freezing outside, we felt so warm in our room as there were heater and electric blanket. The breakfasts were fabulous and tasty which made us feel so at home! The B&B is very close to the beach and we enjoyed a nice walk on a sunny morning. We highly recommend Pipi Dune and we are looking forward to staying there again in the coming summer!

Asked the owner if we could have breakfast at 7.30am the following day, because we needed to leave at 8am for day-trip. Were told they didn't get up that early, but they'd leave cold breakfast out for us. Pretty poor service.
Breakfast the following day was good, but 30mins late (9.30am instead of 9am) so we had to rush to make our pre-arranged quad-biking trip.
Rooms very clean and decor very new, although the rooms are small and the walls paper thin. Luckily there was very few other guests so little noise, but if the place was fully occupied I'd imagine you'd be abole to hear everything.

This was our first port of call in NZ and we could not have been made more welcome by Joan and Verne. A lovely B&B with a very comfortable guest lounge and fabulous breakfast. Lots of local knowledge, and they even supplied us with a bucket and spade and swimming towels for our trip to the Hot Water Beach! Highly recommended!

We had a fantastic time staying at Pipi Dune B&B! Vern and Joan are amazing; they made us feel so at home. If we are ever fortunate enough to return to Whitianga, we will absolutely stay here again. We would recommend Pipi Dune to our closest family and friends. Breakfasts were tasty too!

We spent three days in Whitianga in early 2012 and had a marvellous time. We had our four-month-old with us, and it was never a problem; Vern and Joan were amazingly accommodating and made sure that everything was very easy for us. We were made to feel right at home the whole time we were there.

The breakfasts were great, and there was always a stocked fridge and pantry for the rest of day.

Highly recommended.

I made a mistake in booking and we arrived a day early much to Joan's surprise. Unfortunately they were fully booked but they accommodated is in a lovely room upstairs with them and we were basically welcomed as if we were family.

Joan and Vern are a wonderful couple and fantastic hosts, we couldn't have felt more at home unless we were actually at home - but that wouldn't have been nearly as fun. If we're ever fortunate enough to be in the area again, no questions asked, this is the first place we'll check for availability.

The B&B itself is welcoming, comfortable and clean and tidy - and Whitianga is quite well situated for what we wanted to see, Coromandel town, Cathedral Cove, Hot Water Beach but best of all, New Chums Beach - a must do for anyone coming to the area (look it up if you haven't heard of it, as indeed we hadn't before arriving here).

Joan and Vern are very welcoming and kind hosts. They served a very tasty hot breakfast. We stayed two nights. The rooms are quite small with little room for luggage. The walls must be rather thin as other guests can hear conversations in the lounge area when in their rooms. It was close to the beach but a bit of a walk to town to eat. The lounge area is very comfortable and since is was raining lots during our stay we spent time there. They had free Internet and that was nice.
