“These Barracks are on Rotnest Island”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2011

You need to take the ferry from the jetty in Perth around $30 - $40. Free hop on hop off bus will take you around the island. You can do a tour to the barracks take can be booked from the information centre. Lots of other things to do here as well.

“Historically interesting with a variety of accommodation options.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2011

A 1.5 pleasant walk from town or catch the free accommodation transfer bus. Accommodation includes backpacker dorms, family units, individual units, facilities tidy. Dorm beds pricey but inexpensive compared to other Rottnest accommodation. No alcohol allowed. Very little written information about its use as a barracks, you need to go around the barracks and read varous signs and maps to get a sense of how it was used. Close to the water for swimming. Need to book accommodation on line. Very quiet the weekend I stayed. Great for school parties and other large groups. I believe guided tours are available.
