“Weird local hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2014

We had to stop in this small town as it was getting late and we were nowhere near Albany from Cap Leeuwin. The hotel's reception is the Bar counter.
The room is 1 of a row of 8 houses next to the bar. Parking is right beside the room.
The room does not come with a hair dryer.
It looks new but there are cobweb in the toilet. The toilet's window is see through so u have to be careful with people watching in.
There is no wifi.
The fish and chip shop and the bar food counter closed at 8pm so we bought a pack of fish and chip and a T-bone steak from the Bar for dinner. The steak and fish and chip was great. We paid AUD120 for the night. Again the bed was soft, too soft for my liking. On our way out, there was a market in the town hall on a fri morning and we bought local produce.

What can we say but you all must do yourselves a favor & stay in a few of our local Country Pubs & Hotels, the atmosphere is like no other. Once you arrive & have that first cold beer with the barmaid, you feel like you've made a best friend for life.

We rode there with friends on our motorbikes for the weekend to enjoy this experience & once again wasn't disappointed in the characteristics of our Aussie Country Pubs. Friendly service, great value for money meals, reasonable priced alcohol & you never get too disappointed when you don't pay a fortune for a room which is a little outdated. The atmosphere, country people & lovely fresh air usually takes your mind off everything else that's less important coz you get caught up in the moment of living in the country. We stayed in the motel rooms beside the hotel which only provided double beds (which was a little small due to hubby being 6ft 4") & the bathroom window (which was quite large) even though privacy glass was not so private, backing onto road beside Hotel & the back of Hotel. Us females felt a little exposed & decided to shower with the light off after our husbands told us they could see through the bathroom glass windows. This was the only downfall really though. Rooms had A/C & were reasonably quiet. Meals were excellent & we probably over ate due to forgetting the portion sizes of Country Pubs. Recommend a drive out to Nannup!

Room Tip: We stayed in motel rooms beside the Hotel, our rooms only had a double bed which made it had for my...

A gem in the southwest. Great food served by friendly staff. We happened to be there on Parma night and my husband enjoyed his mexican version while I opted for a seafood basket - a bargain at $15. The dining area is basic and the locals were enjoying a noisy game of pool but we enjoyed the atmosphere.

We did not stay here, but decided to dine.
In the past we have been for Sunday roast lunch, and evening meals & have not been disappointed.
I was delighted to see marron on the menu - it was lovely.
To the new managers & chef - you're doing a great job - keep it up!

For a little country pub this was one of the most enjoyable meals we have eaten! I don't know who the chef was but the meal was top restaurant style. My friend and I had lamb cutlets served on a mashed parsnip cake with pureed peas and cherry tomatoes. The cutlets were a generous serve of four and melted in your mouth. My husband had an Indian curry which he thoroughly enjoyed. Was a typical country pub with people eating and some others playing pool but the atmosphere was great and was a very enjoyable evening.

Under new management Jenny and Dave only been in residence for 2 weeks but my friend and I found them to be very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant food was, in my opinion, five star. All staff very friendly and efficient.

New managers, David and Jenny, have only been there a week or two. July2013) Very friendly and really helpful (no surliness from these two!) Dave is a good chef and I feasted on freshly caught marron brought in by a local still alive 30 mins before I ate it. Yummo. The rest of the food was great too and plenty of choices. The bar staff made us feel welcome as did the locals. Jenny showed us around the different room types, including motel style and a house, as well the the traditional upstairs rooms with the wide pub balcony in the front. Remember traditional pubs have share bathrooms. Hope it goes to plan for this lovely young couple in their new venture.
