“Agree with all the negative feedback!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2013

Unfortunately agree with all the negative feedback posted of late! Overpriced, Overrated and Unfriendly! I think that if the receptionist was more friendly from the start it would have put us in a more positive frame of mind, but a few things were disappointing and wish we had read these bad reviews prior to going. The best idea is to get out and about and enjoy the surroundings. Definitely take the short drive over to Yallingup area and up to Bunker Bay and do the bush tuckers wine and food tour. happy travels !

Room Tip: Definitely check out the options!

The accommodation was great - very spacious and clean. But, the pool is not good enough for a resort - It claims to be an indoor pool - however, one wall is open to the elements, and when it is cold and windy, the pool area is freezing. When the pool was closed on our first day, my husband complained and was dealt with very uncivilly (although, the manager did grudgingly open the pool for us). Also, the in house movies was broken, and TV reception was haphazard. This was again dissapointing as we had two young children with us, with nowhere to go on an evening.

Dear Guest

Thank you for the positive comments. The pool is not huge, but nonetheless inviting, and many guests enjoy the setting opening to the deck and garden area. The pool was not closed, merely undergoing maintenance, which does need to occur. Access was available via a separate entrance, which we understand was advised. The in-house movies did have an outage and we sincerely apologise for this and this was rectified as humanly possible. TV reception is generally reliable.
Yours sincerely

A very overpriced resort with dingy dark and noisy rooms. We found the lady at the front counter very unfriendly and unhelpful. There seemed to be some much better apartments within the complex that are the same price so be careful what you are actually getting. You dont want number 24. Such a shame considering the great location but there are much better options available.
Won't be back.

We had the 3 bedroom 4 bathroom unit. Smooth check in/ check out. Very happy with the rooms. Great for the family. Our two kids had a room each with their own spa. Very clean and well presented.
Walking distance (less than 5 minutes) to the beach and main shopping area.
Stayed for 2 nights and wished we could have stayed longer.

We found this accommodation too pricey for the state of the room. We had a very dated 2-bed unit. The external view and presentation of the Resort built an expectation that the reality could not offer. Fresh stock of sheets and manchester would have been ideal. Perhaps we were given a unit that has not been refurbished......so please ask about the presentation of the unit you are given......as ours was very dated. The rooms are too tiny for a double/twin bedding arrangement.
The Resort's location is excellent and central in Dunsborough Town and the spa will well run.
Suitable for families who are not fussed with the finer things in life.....and just need a place to sleep at the end of a busy day of exploring the beautiful region.

Room Tip: Ask for newly refurbished units.

Dear Guest
Bay Village Resort & Spa Dunsborough has a range of accommodation from 3.5-4.5* and we are extremely conscious of offering accurate information on our web site relating to each particular room type. Photographs and descriptions accompany each unit style, however we cannot be responsible for some of the third party websites who choose to present our product according to their own criteria, which may not provide the options for as much in depth information. Some of the Cottage and Chalets are up to 25 years old, and we make no apologies for this as they are still of a good standard and ideal for family holidays and most now have modern and lovely new bathrooms and kitchens. Perhaps you stayed in the 1 un-renovated unit.
We are proud of the linen service used with our crispy white sheets and towels, so am unsure of the description you have offered in this review.
Very fortunately the majority of our guests checking out provide very happy and positive feedback. We are pleased you enjoyed the location.
Regards
Management

We stayed at this hotel to attend a friend's 40th birthday party, which was being celebrated at another location in Dunsborough.

Firstly, I'll start with the positives:
The resort is in an excellent central location in Dunsborough.
The receptionist was very friendly and efficient.
The bed was comfortable.
The wooden furniture was of good quality.

Now for the negatives:
Room: The one bedroom apartment spa room was just a studio room. The bathroom (spa bath, sink etc) was actually in the bedroom with only the toilet in a separate room. The room was cramped, dark, dingy and definitely not an apartment. The bed linen was clean (except my pet hate, had a brown blanket under the white sheet) but the room was very dusty and the toilet walls and floor had not been swept.
Price: We paid AUD 242.55 per night (as did another couple who we met over the weekend) for a one bedroom apartment spa room. However, another couple paid exactly the same for a luxurious 3 bedroom house, also within walking distance of the town centre.
Noise: Our room was on the first floor but at the bottom of a set of three apartments. Therefore, when someone walked up/down the stairs just outside our room it sounded as if they were walking through our room. We could also hear other guests using the toilet during the night. The main screen door slammed shut whenever it was used and the ice machine situated right outside our room was frequently emptying and refilling its contents throughout the night.

This is not what I would call a resort - it is a glorified motel, because it has a spa attached to it. In fact, I have stayed in nicer motels and paid a lot less.

For the above reasons we would look to stay elsewhere in Dunsborough.

Dear Guest

It is an interesting contrast between your comments and the previous 5!
The unit style you chose was an Apartment Spa ROOM as opposed to an Apartment and is clearly displayed as such on the web site - even showing in the photograph the spa bathroom adjoining the bedroom (separate toilet). We do have other unit styles with separate bathrooms/living areas.
Pricing is competitive to the region for this unit style.

Kind regards
Management

We stayed in the 2 storey spa appt with kitchen and what a room...
Loved the carton of real milk in the fridge on arrival all ready for that long awaited coffee.
Walking distance to everything in town with the local iga right on the corner.
Customer service was first class from time of arrival to extended time of departure. Also the voucher which we received for the beauty spa was used with gratitude.
The pub next door was very handy also for a quick pop in for a local drop. Great open fire place and board games. No noise was heard at all at night but it is a quiet time of the year.
We had the Front Villa facing the ocean and couldn't have had a better spot. Going to arrange for sure week-end away with the girls very very soon in exact apartment. Thanks again for your hospitality. See you soon.
