We decided at the last minute to spend some time in Shark Bay, and are glad we did. An amazing area with lots to do. We threw the trailbike on the back of the ute and headed North. We spent a few days in Denham, explored everything around there, mainly on two wheels. Ended up trying to book further accommodation in Denham, but they were fully booked at every place we tried . We rang Nanga at the off chance they might have something for us..and they did.
We booked a cabin, $90 for the night. The cabin was beautiful and clean. But the weather at the time was hot. And the wind was from the east. It was just one of a few times of the year that the ocean could not naturally cool the place down. Our night there was sweltering. So much so, that we carefully entered the beautiful swimming pool about 2.30 am in the morning to cool right down. It worked well.
Staff are accommodating. Amenities are dated. I'm not sure if there are any air conditioned rooms available at all. It certainly isn't a resort. As far as I can see, it is a caravan park that has grown from the roots of a sheep shearing station. It is well equipped. They seem to have bore water in plentiful supply, and offer fresh water as required.
What could I say...other than..awesome.
I have travelled the whole country and can honestly say this place is extreme. Clean. Pristine..
These beaches of shallow white sand allow people to bathe and snorkel in isolation and comfort. Just a few kms towards Denham, on the right hand side is Shell Beach. Don't go past this. Take the time to put your feet into the water there, and just enjoy nature.
Anywhere around here is good.
