We stayed with 3 other couples, meaning we each had our own bedroom with ensuite bathroom. From the street Bellingen Palms looks like a fairly ordinary residential house, but once inside the large living area and deck commands lovely views over the valley and to the mountains beyond. The kitchen is equipped with all you'd expect for a 'basket breakfast' plus much more - spices, cling wap etc. A wood fire added atmosphere and warmth in winter - with plenty of wood on hand. There is a lovely pool set in leafy surrounds which would be enjoyable in summer. It's about a 10 min walk (downhill) to the village, and a half hour drive to Dorrigo, with plenty to do, including the Rainforest Centre.
The accommodation advertises that individual rooms can be booked. Without doubt the best way to take advantage of this place, and enjoy the delightful town of Bellingen, is to come in a group of 8 or 9. The down stairs area has a smaller living area and queen plus single bed as well as it's own bathroom.
If searching for negatives ... we couldn't find a CD player upstairs, although there was one downstair for ambient dinner music, and there were lovely wine & port glasses, but no champagne flutes! We also brought our own coffee machine. Highly recommend this place for a shared adult group of friends or family. (The beds are all Queens, and the balcony rails are non-tentioned wire - so not so suitable for young children.
