My family recently decided to make the move South after spending our early adult lives in Northern Ontario. When a business trip brought me through Temagami, I thought I should spend a night since it would be once of the last times I'd be on that stretch of highway. I arrived at the hotel around 7 pm, and the parking area was full of licence plates from Ontario, Quebec and several states. I immediately found the front desk, which was housed in the restaurant's building. Check in was quick with a smiling staff member, and there were only a few steps to drag my luggage up to my room. I'm not into fancy hotels, but this room was certainly basic; 2 queen sized beds with older bedding, a rugged little desk with a small, old t.v., and a simple bathroom with enough towels. All in all, I found $110 a little pricey for the accommodation/amenities, but that may be because despite my curiosity, the 'rustic' experience just isn't for me. Food in the restaurant was great, and the staff very friendly and attentive, even though the place was quite full. Despite being a full house, the property was quiet overnight, save for early morning bikers headed to the weekend's biker reunion in a neighbouring town. Be advised that early checkouts (before 8) mean having to call management from a phone outside the main building. Staff really were wonderful and obviously interested in their guests' satisfaction, so if nature/outdoors is your 'thing', I'd encourage you to try this place out!
