Just back & now to write this review..Where to start, well after a delay with flights due to Fog on Guernsey we got down to the Trident Ferry to Herm via some very dangerous steps (Cambridge steps) as tide was out.My son & I got no help with luggage, luckily I have a strong teenager,as I had not long been out of Hospital also,so for the elderly etc it could be far more tricky....no rail & steep..sort it out Guernsey.
Anyway back to Herm & The White House Hotel, what with the tide being still out they seem to have a team effort in passing luggage up Rosiere steps at Herm but at the top we just took our Luggage & headed down the path hoping we were going in the right direction to the Hotel. It's a fair walk if you are tired & dragging suitcases on sandy pathway,we got to the Hotel with a very warm welcome from reception with the offer to take our Luggage to our room in the Mermaid Cottages. The Hotel is Stunning set in Beautiful Gardens & we strolled to our room & as we did our suitcases arrived by Tractor with an apology from a young bloke for not taking our suitcases from Steps.
We were staying Half Board for four days as that was all I could get as they must have been fully booked. I now see why...We had been given a Double Bed although I had booked 1 Adult 1 Child..They need to clear that up on website child age limit as not many 16 year old boys want to still sleep with there mum lol Anyway after unpacking & a little rest in our lovely Mermaid Cottage Room 22 it was Dinner at the Hotel.I knew it was a Four Course dressed up affair. Well the food, now I knew it would be good after reading the reviews but I can say truly as a cook myself that I was most impressed, presented beautifully & cooked perfectly. All round yummyness! Especially the Desserts ;-) Nice one Nigel.A BIG Hats off also to the great attentive service by friendly professional staff, especially Rachel what a top Girl! Breakfast-My fav again no faults so much choice & a real set up for your day.The Island is so Beautiful, clean & organised and was impressed of the obvious pride taken in there Island. We were very lucky as had great Weather and soto the Beaches we went ;-) All perfect, safe & clean my fav is Shell Beach only due to the fact that I love collecting Shells & you can Kayak there. Go early to Puffin Bay if want to see any.You can do as much or a little as you want & I felt so relaxed. The Hotel have a Small Pool again set perfectly landscaped Gardens, were you can sunbathe, read with plenty of choice of loungers, tables & chairs.Had a light lunch most days at the Ship or The Mermaid & again food good especially The Mermaid who have fun friendly staff. Gift shops have all you need.
Overall loved it,miss the Island,Hotel & the lovely people we met...will be back next year.Well done to the Manager Sion,Sophie & all the Staff who work so hard as there pride shows & rightly so!
We stayed in the Mermaid cottages No 22 (ground level),it was lovely yet if i'd had a choice I...

Sorry to hear that you had difficulty with luggage both in Guernsey, and on arrival at Herm - we do try and ensure that all baggage is collected on Herm and delivered quickly and efficiently to rooms/cottage/tents. Apologies that we missed your bags, but glad to here that our porter apologised, and delivered them from the reception to your room.
We very much hope that we have the pleasure of welcoming you back to Herm soon.
