We enjoyed a dinner for 4 at II Piccolo after having many nights of spanish food and feeling the need for a change. Pontevedra is not full to bursting with alternative choices and II Piccolo is one of only a few not serving Tapas dishes.
Thankfully it does not disappoint.
We ordered Ravioli and it was fresh and tasted delicious. The sauce was home made with garlic infused flavours. A lovely starter.
We ordered Veal as a main and it was tender and delicious. Two pizzas both of which were extremely authentic and boasting a fresh crisp dough base. A home made lasagne was ordered too and had a simply to die for sauce.
We ordered two deserts, and compliments from our party were forthcoming about how authentically italian they tasted.
If I had one criticism, it would be there is little atmosphere in the restaurant, looking more cafeteria than italian hotspot. Perhaps some lamps and less overhead lighting in the dinner service would help matters somewhat.
All in all, a very enjoyable evening. Worth a visit.
