“Perfect place for this lovely city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2014

The location is really good as a base for exploring this lovely city or, because it is on the Camino route, a nice treat for a pilgrim. The hotel's historic architecture and furnishings are wonderful. The rooms were simple but nice, clean and quiet. The people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. Walk from the Parador to explore the cafes, shops and churches. The whole city had a great feel to it, from the locals to the atmosphere and architecture.

The hotel is in the medieval house of the ancient baron of Pontevedra. Very well located in old Pontevedra. Quiet, very few car moving in the area. Easy to walk everywhere. We stayed in the most beautiful suite of the hotel, which was spacious with balcony on the garden. Internet work perfectly. Included breakfast is generous and complete. Service is great, people very kind. Food at the restaurant for lunch or dinner is very good, traditional galego cuisine. Only one thing: if you received an urgent message at the desk from your business or family in the afternoon, you will get it 24 hour after.

The parador is within the old town. It was formerly a Baron's house. The hotel and gardens are lovely and peaceful. This is a small quiet cosy hotel. The staff are excellent. We ate the set meal in the restaurant and although the choice was fairly small the food was great.

Room Tip: Parking is very limited but the staff do their best to fit you in and even park for you.

Lovely place to stay, positioned right in the centre of the old town. Very comfortable and typical of most paradors in Spain. The old town is very beautiful. Parking could be a big problem but we were lucky

We stayed in Paradors for 6 of the 7 nights in Spain and they are definitely great value and also have wonderful staff. We are Amigo members so we get the complimentary drink in the evening and normally some tapas. This was a lovely old building in a great location in the centre of the old town, which is really interesting. Lovely large room and free parking (limited so get there early). Also free Wifi in all the Paradors, which again adds to the good value. We eat in the restaurant, which was good with local produce, recipes and great wine.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the gardens which was nice.

We stayed here on day 8 of walking the Camino. It is located in town which is a bonus. It's a fantastic old building full of charm. You definitely get a historical sense of what life was like staying here. The down side, is that the rooms are tired, and the beds and pillows are terrible. Be aware, that if you drive here, there is no real parking for this property, so ask about that when you make a reservation.

I have stayed at the Parador de Pontevedra twice for business trips and find the old buildings beautiful and the interior well preserved and decorated to match the building with heavy chandeliers and dark wooden furniture in authentic Spanish style. You feel like you are in an old castle or monastary. The employees at the hotel are all very friendly and speak sufficient english. The rooms are large and have modern bathrooms and amenities. Notice that the windows in some of the rooms on the lower floors do not open, because they face the street or garden areas. Generally quiet location in a narrow street without traffic. Parking can be difficult. Wifi is only available in the lobby area.
Only had drinks and tapas/snacks in the restaurant, but they were very good. Breakfast is also nice with Spanish specialties like tortilla and churros - be sure to try the freshly squeezed orange juice. However, as a business traveler the opening hours of the breakfast (8-11) are a bit late.
The hotel is located near the city centre with romatic narrow streets, nice tapas bars and restaurants.
Would like to come back here and stay privately some day.

Room Tip: Get a room on the 3rd or 4th floor if you want to be sure that you can open the windows
