We stayed at Hotel Soria Plaza Mayor for one night at the beginning of our 10-day trip around northern Spain in May 2008. The hotel itself has been nicely renovated, and the reason for our rating of "Terrible" has everything to do with the customer service and nothing to do with the facilities. It was by far the least welcoming hotel we have ever stayed at in Spain. First, after letting us into the underground parking garage, the woman left us alone in almost total darkness without showing us where to turn on the lights while we sorted out our luggage. Next, she failed to copy all of the pages she needed from my passport at check-in, and when we came back downstairs after getting settled she accused me of withholding my passport number. So I told her the number and we left for dinner. When we came back she was going over the photocopy of my passport with another staff member and pounced on us as soon as we walked in the door, accusing me of giving her the wrong number. I went upstairs, got my passport, and showed her that I had indeed given her the correct number. She did not even apologize. Since we appeared to be the only people staying in the hotel, they should have been happy to have our business and should have treated us better than this. Our advice: do not stay in Hotel Soria Plaza Mayor, or better yet, skip Soria all together - there was very little to see or do in the town.
