“Total rip-off!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

We just returned from 5 nights at Alle Ginestre Capri B&B, Anacapri. I would strongly discourage anyone from going there. The rooms are extremely basic or even dumpy. The scarce furniture is the shabbiest cheapest mdf-crap available. Rooms do not come with individual balconies but you need to share with the other guests. I felt like staying in a shabby hostel knowing that I had to spend 710 Eur for 5 nights, it was really depressing.
The location is terrible – the house is more than 25 minute walk from anywhere and is not located in a nice isolated area in the middle of nature, but it’s surrounded by other houses. So it offers none of the benefits of being in a remote location.
If the room rates were about 60 Eur per night I would have put up with it despite all the inconveniences. But they were charging us 140 Eur per night which is simply absurd for what you get. We enquired in a few hotels in Anacapri and most had hotel rooms available and for 120 Eur per night you could get a beautiful room with all conveniences and individual balcony right in the center of town.
Don’t get fooled by the good reviews. They are based on nothing more than the owner’s false friendliness – the same story being told over and over to all new guests during breakfast (how he bakes his own cake from home-made limoncello), sharing a tourist map with recommendations of places to go and see (that’s nice but the island is 10m2 and all the sights are advertised everywhere, in each guidebook and very well-marked – you really don’t need to be paying hundreds of euros surcharge for this service). Needless to say, I tried to check out early but was told that I would be charged the full price anyhow.
I am not one to complain or waste time writing reviews but this time I felt it was my duty to warn other travelers from making the same mistake.
Have a great time in Capri. It is an absolutely wonderful place.

We were very pleased with our B&B in Anacapri. Costanzo was a wonderful host and gave us many recommendations that were spot on. He also made sure we made it to the ferry and drove us there in his personal car. We had 2 rooms. One for us and one for our adult 20 something daughters. The patio was breathtaking and the room was spotless. The ONLY reason I am not giving it 5 stars is that it was really quite a hike to the little piazza of Anacapri and we had rainy weather so we were stuck. Taxis cannot make it to the top. Know if you stay here that you need to be able to make the trek and plan accordingly. The other reason is that we had to pay cash. Not a big problem but just plan on it. Apparently the credit card machine has perpetual problems. However, we would definitely go back again. Thanks for a wonderful time. The Mansfields from Texas!

It is a lovely location with very hospitable hosts. Great views of the sea. Great sunset. Costanza and Theresa are very warm and welcoming.

I would have given it 5/5 had it had not been for (1) the patchy internet and (2) the problem with the credit card machine because of which we had to trudge to the nearest ATM to draw cash to pay for our two night stay and (3) the thin curtains over the window which let in light from outside throughout the night and which kept me thinking that it was already morning every time I woke up. They need to invest in blackout drapes, the kind that hotels use.

Alle Ginestre B&B was beautiful and we wished we could have stayed longer. We loved being away from the busy city center and Anacapri was quiet and serene. Our room was very clean and comfortable and looked newly renovated. We had a terrace outside where we could look off to the sea. Costanzo was very nice and helpful and was kind enough to pick us up in Anacapri. We would probably have gotten quite lost without his help! He showed us where we could take the walking road to the coast for views of the Amalfi Coast and where to get dinner nearby (Da Gelsomina, where we'd already made a reservation. You must go!). We'd love to stay at Alle Ginestre again, but for a longer stay next time.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 3 I believe, which was beautiful. I believe that all the rooms are nice though!

We have been using Tripadvisor, to book the best B&B’s on a one-month Italy trip and so far the reviewer’s appraisals are right on. Fantastic stay, beautiful views and very friendly, helpful and hard-working hosts Costanzo and Theresa bake wonderful breakfast breads and cakes.
Alle Ginestre is a great base to explore AnaCapri, the quieter side of Capri Island. The best hiking trail on the island is nearby, passing through forts along the west side of the island ending at the Blue Grotto. Also, an excellent (though not cheap) restaurant is close by, along the small road in front of the Alle Ginestre.
Breakfast is a bit late (08:30) for early risers, but its better to get accustomed to Italy’s forward shifted schedule, late breakfast, late lunch and late dinner (after 8). Anyway, while on vacation why not sleep late?

The room we stayed in is on top of a hill and has a fantastic view of Ana capri, Just a short walk you can enjoy the Philosopher's Park, and enjoy the sunset over looking lighthouse. It was a wonderful start to our trip to Italy. This was coupled with a delightful lemon cake personally baked by Constanzo himself. We instantly felt so at home, and the family has so helpful and SOO kind.
We fell in love with the place and the family that welcomed us home! Better come here during May so you can enjoy the blue grotto and the lift. We missed it this in April as the wind was too strong. So, now we have a reason to come back. Anacapri is more quiet than Capri and it's fantastic how the cars are buses can move around in narrow streets. Also, we took the Ferry back to Naples , it was a pleasing ride back, do not take the hydrofoil.

If you want a place that is quiet, relaxing, and absolutely beautiful, Anacapri is the place to go and Alle Ginestre is the PERFECT place to stay. It is very affordable, the family is SO nice and helpful, and the place is really nice too. The room we stayed in had a porch we could sit on and look down at the beautiful island. I dont know why people spend so much money to stay in Capri at those hotels when you could stay here. It is much more peaceful and in my opinion just an overall better place to be. It also only takes about 20 minutes to walk to Capri so you can still easily see all of the sights. Anacapri is such a breathtaking place to be and if I ever go back I will for sure stay at Alle Ginestre again.
