The view is spectacular, the service is excellent and the rooms are beautiful.
The pool and the spa are really great and the staff really try to do all they can for all of their guests. I ca not wait to return.

We spent 9 days at this hotel and we found it to be perfect. Staff (front desk and room service) is attentive and friendly without being too servile. Rooms are nicely decorated (we asked to visit several other rooms for next year booking), spacious, clean and with an 180 degrees priceless view of the bay of naples (note that the sea is just below your terrace and not away like others). All the sea view rooms, from standard to suites have similar view. What changes is the level (below the terrace or above) and sometimes the angle (from some you can't see the sunset). The terrace where you normally have a drink is second to none. It's long, elegant, quite and spacious. Seating there gave us an amazing feeling of relaxation. We also liked the live piano every evening played on the terrace. Same considerations hold for the infinity pool. We also had an amazing and romantic dinner on the 15th of august organised very nicely by the hotel. The pics look like postcards.
The hotel is small with 55 rooms and guests were discreet. The position is away from the noise of capri and anacapri (about 3 mins walk from anacapri piazzetta). We visited other grand hotels on the island and we honestly preferred this one.
We liked the constant presence of the owner around, greeting guests and chatting with them.
The concierge team was very professional and satisfied all our requests, changes of bookings etc. The island was busy and places were full but there was always space for us.
Breakfast was big enough to feed an army.
Only 3 recommendations: 1) don't allow non hotel guests to stay by the pool on any day of the week 2) improve the spa, 3) put in every room a music system that supports iphone/ipod.
Having said that, we will be back next year.

Room Tip: sea view room is a must, no doubts.

This is a truly wonderful hotel, lovely rooms, pool and reception staff. Having stayed on the island 10 times, now an annual event, thought we would try a different hotel. Was excellent, only fault, any thing with the exception of the front desk, one had to tip, which seemed every couple of minutes, bit of an exaggeration, however do not feel at a hotel over 1000 euros a night one should have to tip for a breakfast table. Otherwise if you are happy to do this, this is your place.

Room Tip: All rooms appeared excellent with the exception of 2 that overlooked a large terrace above the break...

Fabulous hotel, the views from it are stunning, the staff are very friendly and helpful, it is truly wonderful. Obviously this doesn't come cheap but it is an unforgettable place. It is expensive getting around as you need to take cabs to get in to Capri - the buses are always full - but the facilities are brilliant.

Full discloser
My mother is from Anacapri and i still own her home there that we rent as a vacation rental.
BUT...
The only place my wife will stay at when we go to see mom when she was alive and now when we check on the place ( 4 times a year), is Augustus.
The pool alone is worth the price.
The staff is just like you expect and more. I don't say this because I am Italian, because I get told by my very English wife that she see's the staff treat everyone like an old friend.
Whatever you do however , spend time just walking around Anacapri, sip some real vino in any of the small family caffe's
Then come back to your new home away from home to see the wonders at night sitting by the pool...Yom may never go home...
Ciao

First off, I am a regular business traveler in the States, which makes me quite picky on hotels, especially when I'm on vacation. I don't know why some of the reviews are negative, but you can't go wrong here. Yes, it's pricy.... But the hotel location, views and perks make it worth it....here is why.

1. Upon disembarking the hydrofoil from Naples (BTW Naples is the pits, don't bother just head to Anacapri/Capri) there is a really nice guy (Paulo) awaiting your arrival at the dock with a sign for the hotel. I didn't arrange for this, the hotel has a perminant staff member great each hydrofoil incase a guest arrives. Once you meet Paulo, he has a complementary porter to take your luggage to the airconditioned (it's great) Mercedes Benz van. You are given a warm welcome by the driver (he is very nice and gracious), water/soft drinks, and a moist towel to freshen up. I was so happy and this gesture by the hotel was remarkable after a long and hot 50 minute hydrofoil ride. You are wisked away in the can to the hotel (15 mins) and the scenery is stunning. By the way, this complementary service is valued at 25 Euro, I know because I took a taxi cab down to Capri one night, and boy was that a mistake not to wait for the van.

The next point I want to make is about Capri vs Anacapri. Capri = hussle and bussle; Anacapri = tranquility and peaceful. Plus the views are spectacular. The town of Anacapri is quaint and beautiful....well polished and is the perfect place for some R&R and nice shops/restaurants....trust me, you will thank me later.

2. You get to the hotel, the staff take your bags, you are greeted at reception...wonderful English by the way, provided refreshments and given a tour of the facility, very nice. The part that I must mention is that I booked a garden delux room, and was upgraded to a garden suite. I have my own garden infront of my room (with lounge chairs), can see the ocean, and a huge double sink bath and jacuzzi tub. Now back to the tour...

3. The building and views from the hotel are the best in Anacapri and Capri. You hear of Capri Palace and a few others, but they do not have the views or excellent infinity pool that this hotel has. The hotel patio is on the edge of the cliff and its just stunning. At night, the whole outside is lit by candles and super romantic. To die for. The pool is an infinity pool and fabulous.

At night, there is a pianist and they play classic 40's music, it's so romantic!! The one downside...just one...is the food and beverage prices....14 Euro for one limoncello...yikes. But, breakfast is included in all stays, and thier breakfast is an elegant buffet of every fruit, meet, cheese, cereal, yogurt, you can think of. Also they have scrambled eggs, breads, bacon and sausage :)

Okay, enough from me...but thank me later for staying at this hotel.
