“A Superb Oasis of Quality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

This hotel may only be 2 star on paper, but in reality it is far higher. Yianni, Maria, and George put a great amount of effort into the daily running of the hotel.
The cleanliness is amazing, the food is good, and the bar is value.
There is a some organised entertainment, but if you don't want to be involved then that is ok too.
The village has many good restaurants and bars, and if you want to walk 20 mins it has a beach that is empty every day but Sunday.
All in all, a great hotel, in a good location

Just returned from Rhodes were we stayed at the Golden Days hotel, in Afandou. As always our hosts, Yianni, Maria and George were diligently providing first class service and friendly hospitality.
This is a hotel that definitely makes you feel at home and part of the family, relatively small and intimate. That cosy feeling but don't worry though, there is plenty of space to enjoy your own company or just join in with all the other guests who invariably always seem to be a great bunch of people, I suppose a case of great minds think alike.
A bigger menu this year and the best English breakfast in the whole village, probably in Greece.
Thanks Maria, Yianni and George for another wonderful stay. See you next year.

I 1st visited in June & loved it so much I went back this month. I thought a week would be enough, but realised by the 2nd day that I should have booked for 2!.
Yannis, Maria & George work very hard to make you feel welcome from the second you arrive. The number of return visitors speaks volumes for the type of place it is.
The village is quiet & I would say that there isn't much to do if you have young children to entertain, but for couples, solo travellers & friends it's perfect.
My only problem was with Expedia, who despite booking 2 months ago, only sent the booking to the hotel the day before I arrived, which caused Maria a bit of a headache, but she sorted out quickly & professionally. The hotel is very popular, so book early to avoid disappointment.

just arrived home from a short /but fantastic stay at golden days it should have been 10 days, but family commitments wouldn't allow that , so I had from Wednesday to Saturday with the rest of my party which had flown out the week before, I have visited this hotel along with my wife sue for years now,and it is better everytime, yiannis, George and maria, make it their business to cater for everyone from the moment they get there ,I saw many old faces from over the years which goes to prove when people return year after year , that there is something special about this hotel, as there is about the village of afandou, cant wait to return to golden days ASAP

Room Tip: the rooms facing the garden are quieter if you want a lie in

I have just returned from our holiday for the second time at Golden Days. After such a lovely holiday last year; we did not feel things could get any better. In fact they were great, the menu is bigger and better, Karaoke was great and the group on Thursday nights were fab. As usual we were sad to leave Maria, Yiannis and George last night, the best bit is we are looking forward to our next holiday there.

I feel that our hosts are honest, helpful and caring; nothing is too much trouble and they work from morning til night without complaint. As I said last time this is not a five star tower block, it is a warm and genuine environment where you can feel at home the minute you step off the coach. The people in the village are lovely individuals and to me this is really experiencing the Greek way of life.

Our breakfasts were lovely, as was all the food we had at the hotel and I cannot thank the team enough for helping make our holiday very special. See you all next year, twice if finances allow.

Room Tip: We have stayed ground and first floor; both were of equal quality. Possibly quieter facing the rear...

Just returned from an August holiday with my partner and our five year old at the Golden Days Hotel in Afandou. The hotel is fairly small and has two stars but what it lacks in stars it more than makes up for in friendliness. The staff are great, with either George, Yanni or Maria always on hand to help with any queries etc. We were made to feel really welcome from the moment we arrived. The pool isn't the biggest but is big enough for the size of the hotel and never felt crowded whilst we were there and there were enough sun loungers around the pool and in the garden for everyone that wanted one.

We went self-catering and our room had a double electric hob, a fridge, a kettle, a few pots and pans and cutlery. It was all that we needed - there wasn't an oven but as I didn't have any plans to cook a Sunday roast I can't say it bothered me. The room was cleaned every day and fresh towels were also provided daily. It was immaculate. The beds were comfortable and the room didn't feel too crowded despite the extra bed for our daughter. Most visitors will probably want air conditioning which was available for around 6 euros per day - ours was quiet and effective.

Our room overlooked the pool, had a small balcony and was one of the closest to the bar. Karaoke night was the only night that noise from the bar was really noticeable but it didn't keep our daughter awake and provided plenty of amusement for us sat on the balcony.

The hotel is on the edge of Afandou, which is a typical Greek village rather than a chocolate box one. It is sleepy during the day but has a nice buzz about it once the heat of the day is gone. There are plenty of places to eat, a few bars and assorted shops etc. Buses go from the village square and there is regular service to Lindos, Rhodes Town, Falhiraki etc. The village beach is a little way out of the village, there is land train that runs down to it but it had broken down whilst we were there. However, as Falhiraki is only a few minutes away by normal bus and is child friendly (at least during the day) it was just as easy to head to the beach there.

Overall this is a very pleasant hotel made special by the friendliness of the staff. It is a good base from which to explore the island and for the price you'd be hard pressed to find a better, or cleaner, place to stay. I'd definitely recommend it.
