“Lovely place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2012

We have stayed at the Dollenberg twice now and can't wait to go back. Our last stay last March was excellent. A little disappointed that the renovations were still going on but couldn't be helped. Atmosphere, staff, rooms, hotel and food excellent. Kitchen party the best. Hikes with Frau Schmidt are thoroughly recommended - she's great! Our last hike with her through the Black Forest to the Renchtal hutte was brilliant - watched a brilliant sunset with a glass of champagne (frau Schmidt produced a bottle from her rucksack! ) Lovely entertaining evening at the renchtal hutte with good food and german music. A lovely family atmosphere and felt really spoilt. Saving up for next trip!

Room Tip: We had a room with a view over the valley - beautiful!

I visited the Dollenberg several times and I must say that after each stay I cannot wait to go back. Very comfortable and clean rooms, great food from chef Martin, a brandnew wellness with several pools and saunas and a unique setting in the forest. But what really keeps me going back is the staff : friendly and professional always ready for you. What keeps me going back also is the music in the bar after dinner and of course the legendary Küchenparty at Tuesday night --> dancing in the restaurant with live-music. Everyone should try this at least once.

this place is so great, we would prefer to keep it as a secret and not tell anyone about it! but that would be unfair! everybody must have the right to be at least a few weeks a year in this heavenly environment among these wonderful people that are the embodiment of the word HOSPITALITY! value for money in every aspect! Thank you for having spoiled us all those years and in the years to come!

Room Tip: just ask, they have it!

Spa:
Our expectations, the innovations of the spa and relaxation area are behind. 4000m2 wellness, indoor and outdoor pools, saunas and steam rooms, whirlpool, haman, salt bath and an extra large sun terrace overlooking the beautiful valley where are dozens of sunloungers.
The new gym was a bit on the small side and rudimentary furnishings, no music, no tv, windows could not open!

rooms:
Luxuriously furnished, with robes, per person a wicker basket with 2 beach towels and a sheet for lounge chairs to take to the Spa! HD tv in every room, terras (take a room valley side)
a disadvantage, wifi is not free throughout the hotel (0.10 € per min).

restaurant:
As always great, especially Le Pavillon with 2 Michelin stars, a real experience!
Very good winelist with a lot of choise between 20 and 35 €.
Breakfast is very good, a lot of choise.

reception and staff:
Very friendly, glass of "champagne" on arrival, they park your car in the parking lot and bring your luggage to your room.

activities:
We did a guided walk in the woods of 10-kms, at lunchtime a BBQ in the woods, everything was there, table, chairs, tablecloths, silver cutlery and glasses as in the restaurant, what an experience!

By a visit of 7 days, free full-board and daily coffee and cake for free!
When leaving, a box of chocolats offered.
worth the detour.

The hotel is in one of the most beautiful sceneries I have ever experience: the black forest. The Dollenberg, has great food, every day is a gourmet experience. Breakfast has local Jam, and all sort of food: fruits, cheese, yogurt, pastries, eggs (a chef will cook for you any egg you want). Dinner, has a menu, with excellent price, and great first class service.
The Hotel is in the hill of the Bad Griesbach town, so they have all kind of activities to do, like hiking trips, long and shorts, I experience the kitchen party where they opened the kitchen for all the guests, and there is like 15 stations of chefs cooking diferenets specialties, meat, pasta, fish, curry, desserts, sorbet, etc. So you can talk to the chef, see how they cook, ask questions, and the also had a Sommelier, and a local wine maker exposing her wines. Really great experience, they also have a cottage at the other side of the hill and they do fondue night, and lunches.
The most important thing to highlight is the service is first class.

Room Tip: I think a black forest view is worth!

If you want to have a special moment at the hotel. Super food, luxe in the rooms, and very nice spa. I went with my husband and we had are dog also with us. For walking trips.
Amazing that we could go there with the dog. The holiday was not cheep but good spend.
Very nice surroundings. Dont go wen you want nightlife or many things to see. This is relaxing time , walking, eating, and spa treatment. It was christmas period and the hotel was lightend and decorated amazingly.

Hotel Dollenberg in the Black Forest has a fabulous location, staff, and facilities. A really luxurious hotel but friendly and family run. They didn’t tell us when we booked though that they had major construction underway which they really should have done, but they were impressed that some English people had driven all the way there and upgraded us and that did compensate. Room service a little shaky at times.
