“Awesome restaurant, food, service top notch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2014

On a friend's recommendation as well as trip advisor reviews, we reservaed a lunch at this restaurant last month. When we arrived St. Emillion, we were greatly impressed by the town itself. The hotel/ restaurant is situated almost at the top of the town, needless to say the scenery offered by its location was incredible. We were an hour earlier than our reservation but the maître'd did not even hesitate to seat us. Services from then on was incredible. We chose the 6 course surprised menu by the chef with the wine pairing. Though the lunch was expensive, the value of the food and services far exceeding the price. Would not hesitate to save up to have dinner there in our next trip to St. emillion.

“beautiful view, lousy food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

The restaurant only gets a 3rd dot because of the view. Eating lunch on the terrace the view and setting are without a doubt beautiful. The young staff is mostly attentive but lacking in experience. They seemed nervous and unsure of their craft. The food was a disappointment for 250 euros for 4 with one bottle of wine. A diner salad came with sand in every bite. It went back. The lobster roles, prepared like fresh spring rolls were mostly filled with grated fresh carrots that lacked any sort of definition or flavour. The accompanying sauce was a directionless paste. The little burgers, I will call them sliders, were served in a brioche, blue rare with no binder to keep them together. Unappetizing. My Hake, served with grilled vegetables was fine. Accompanying sauce, served in a little side bowl, although flavourful, had too much oil in it so that there was no way to apply it without dousing the fish with it. I poured it out in my side plate to get at the sauce. What a mess.

At least the wine was nice although we had to pour second glasses ourselves rom the ice bucket that was several feet away.

Thank you for taking the time to express your feelings during your lunch at l’Esprit de Plaisance formula.
We are really sorry that there was sand in the salad, we pay even more attention, as well as for the quantity of carrot in the lobster roll. The lobster is weighed in each roller to keep a good balance and harmony. The sauce usually has a great success with our guests but we will be careful.
For the burger we are surprised because the ingredients are calibrated and we serve indeed rare cooking.
Regarding the hake we understand that the setting is not up to your taste. The sauce is a tomato juice and balsamic vinegar with olive oil which is a natural product, we integrate
the fact that there was too much for you.
We pay special attention to your feelings and thank you for your visit.

“Mothers Day French style, what a joy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2014

We had eyed up this place last year when on our motor home travels but having 3 kids with us made it not happen. Anyway we had a chance to return to the campsite child free and imagine my surprise when we got a table for Mother's Day lunch in France. We had the set menu which I think was 7 courses and what a joy. My husband and I have eaten in several michelin star places, I know this no longer has a star but I'm sure it won't be long and we thought this was the best meal we ever had. The service, the setting, the chef coming to the table , he even signed my menu. I really didn't think it expensive for what we had the hours of enjoyment spent eating. Before leaving we enjoyed the terrace views taking our photos. I would come back in a heart beat!

“The best view table in St. Emilion”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

This was an elegant lunch on the patio with views overlooking the town and the countryside. It's expensive, but worth it for the food and the experience. Enjoy!

“Good restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2014

Loved the food, beautiful room...service was very good but felt very rushed. Would have benefited to slow down a bit more to enjoy the many courses and wine pairings. Overall would recommend!
