“Our stay in the Amazon was absolute perfection!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

I am so grateful that we found Posadas Amazonas. For our short 3 days/2 nights in the Amazon, I couldn't have asked for more. Customer service was top notch, food was excellent, and every activity enjoyable (even the dawn and night hikes). I felt like we got pretty lucky, as we got to see many of the cool animals (monkeys, two types of caymans, giant river otters, piranhas, macaws and other cool birds, lizards, agouti, etc.), and we were fortunate to not have had any scary visitors to our room. Just the incredibly relaxing jungle sounds for our naps and nighttime sleep. We definitely took their packing and dressing recommendations seriously, which worked out for us, as we didn't deal with any bug bites. I would also like to note their customer service for our companion. She fell ill her first day (NOT from Posadas Amazonas, but something she contracted in Aguas Calientes or Cusco), and they were quick to get her to a doctor in Puerto Maldonado, had their Customer Service Manager (I believe her name is Hortencia) stay with her the entire time to translate and advocate for her, and would not take any chances, including seeking multiple doctor opinions and not transporting her back to us until they were confident she was healthy enough. She did make a full recovery, and we are all so grateful that she was not in it alone. The staff also made sure to keep our group updated on her multiple times per day.

Dear Ramonaruby,

Thank you so much for taking the time to complete this review. We are sorry that a member of your group fell ill during her stay and was not able to fully experience all the lodges had to offer.
Thank you for mentioning the recommendations about how to prepare. A complete list of what to bring as well as medical considerations can be found on our website under FAQ's. We encourage all guests to read this thoroughly in order to best prepare for their stay with us.
Thank you again for choosing Rainforest Expeditions for your stay in Tambopata. We hope to see you again some day.
Sincerely,
Danielle Krautmann and the staff at Posada Amazonas

It was our first stay in the jungle and it was really awesome. Very knowledgeable guides made the trip very interesting. The open room to the forest was great. We enjoyed the trips on the river and to the lake, where we saw a cayman swimming in the lake. Also interesting to visit the farm where we could see how they make a living in the jungle.

We knew we had two nights stay in the amazon jungle but we didn’t expect such a comfortable lodge as Posada Amazonas…wow! Open and spacious rooms provide a close contact with the fresh air and the sounds of the forest. Staff is all local, very friendly and well prepared to take care of foreign guests. The nature guides are social and very passionate, always motivating us to participate on daily activities: watching the macaws in the morning, finding monkeys on trees, walking at night looking for big topical insects! .Excellent food and a bar with delicious “Pisco sour” cocktails. We recommend this lodge to anybody! Antonio Marreiros, Victoria,Canada

This is not a stay if you are looking for a 5 star accomodation at the Hilton. But if you want nature, this place is awesome! Great animal sightings including poison dart frogs, lots of monkeys. Of course, our stay was enhanced by our guide, who never stopped working it.

I fully recommend this lodge, the location was perfect; the staff was really kind and the guides very knowledgeables. The lodge is involved with the Infierno Community, so it's great to know that by staying there you are in a way supporting the community! For me the "window-wall" in the room was the best experience.

By far the best part of our experience at Posada Amazonas was our guide, Inez. Her knowledge of the plant and animal life in the rainforest was incredible and enhanced our ability to spot wildlife. When we would talk with other guests, it was obvious we saw many more things on our guided walks. She was also encouraging when we would start to slow down. The lodge is a beautiful facility with everything needed, a wonderful staff and some of the best food we ate while in Peru. I would highly recommend everyone to visit Posada Amazonas but be prepared, there is a lot of hiking and climbing up hill if you want to have the full rainforest experience.

Room Tip: There was no swimming pool but the fitness center was all the daily hiking. Very strenuous. All room...

This hotel was a pleasant surprise and a very relaxing time. I stayed for one night with a tour. We took a boat ride from puerto Maldonado and then climbed some stairs and walked through the forest to get to the hotel. The hotel was open and airy with hammocks everywhere. The rooms were only 3 walls with the jungle as a window. This unfortunately made sleeping difficult with people talking and snoring. All in all enjoyed my night here with no electricity except for dinner time
