Recommended by this traveling journalist. I'd say it would be a 3-star hotel in North America. So pleasant I booked a second stay on the way back.
Not sure what anyone would say against it, with the caveat that I only stayed going to and from the Pantanal, so I can't gauge how close it is to town, restaurants, or attractions. But if you get it for a good price, it's value for money as a stopover. It was one of the official World Cup hotels.
It's a R$45 taxi from the airport, R$60 to the airport if the hotel calls the taxi for you (they claim it's a longer route somehow, most likely a rip-off). Travel time from the airport varies with traffic from between half an hour to an hour.
-Excellent wifi, hot water, cleanliness, aircon, very quiet
-very friendly staff who can always find a colleague speaks limited English or Spanish
-decent restaurant if you need to eat there, I recommend the very strong caipirinhas
-nice outdoor pool to lounge by, there's a sauna
-the basic room is small and non-luxurious, but I don't imagine anyone would spend much time in it
-weight room does not match picture. The weights are child-sized, the universal machine looked Kafkaesque. Maybe the Stairmaster works.
