“Paradisiacal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2011

Anima hotel is located 30 minutes beyond a busy tourist village in front of a beautiful ample and wild beach where guests watch the tide fill and drench the wide band of sand, while they recline comfortably in the shade of bamboo pergolas, or from colorful hammocks stretched among the palm trees, sipping tropical drinks and eating delicious local snacks. Time stretches and you relax wanting nothing else. The ample bungalows, painted in vivid colors and raised on stilts, are very comfortable with large bathrooms, as is the tulle covered bed. Although you may leave the hotel by the transport offered, we found ourselves wanting to stay every night of our 3-day stay for the candlelit dinner and delicious menu offered. The very well chosen background music is quiet enough that it does not interfere with the charming sounds of nature, the waves, the wind, the birds, sometimes raindrops. The well-trained staff is led by the very competent and friendly manager, Dalton, and by the equally efficient and multilingual Bruno. We"d return in a heartbeat and were sorry to leave.

This has to be the most amazing place I have ever been too!! Not only is this island of Morro beautiful in itself, but the Anima hotel is the most pretty, confortable and cozy place in the island!

The location is perfect, two steps from a wonderful beach, the nature surrounding the place makes it chilled and inspiring. The bunglaows are confortable and oh so quiet. But most of all, the staff is adorable and the food is super delicious (and I am Italian so i dont give good reviews so lightly)!!! It's seriously the perfect place for a romantic or relaxing getaway.

Thanks to the amazing Bruno, Angela and all the staff for making this stay the best ever!! We will definetely come back as soon as we can :) We miss it already!!!

Excellent well-managed and well-staffed hotel.
Great restaurant & bar - do not need to leave the place!
Quiet, secluded, romantic. Individual villas.
Praia Encanto is about 30 mins from main town, but hotel runs a shuttle service.
If you want wild parties, this is not the place to be.

The hotel consists of several bungalows right on the beach of Encanto. This means the hotel is located some miles outside of the village. There is a shuttle bus which frequently brings guest to the village and back. The bungalows are equipped with everything you need. Despite the bungalow look pretty basic from outside the inside is decorated nicely and everything you need was in there. There is a large number of DVD's available at the front desk which you can watch in your bungalow if the paradise arround is not enough for you. Breakfast is good with plenty of fruits. In this hotel you really get value for your money which one can not expect from all hotels in Brazil. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

After a chaotic, hectic and tiring start to the year we were looking for ten days or so by a beautiful blue sea, surrounded by palm trees and exotic plants and wildlife. We wanted a warm welcome from generous hosts with good food and drink, a place where there was as little or as much as we may choose to do. I'm so glad we found the Anima Hotel, a thirty minute shuttle bus away from the charming party town of Morro do Sao Paulo in Bahia, Brazil.

Curiously enough, despite the Anima receiving almost unanimously positive reviews, some of the more overly critical ones were playing on my mind...Brazil is a long way to go from the UK and after lumping all our eggs in one Anima shaped basket, it would have been a disaster had we pciked a wrong un. And whilst I can see some small element of truth in a couple of the reviews (the shuttle bus was late picking us up once and, shock horror, it is a bit of a bumpy ride), believe me this place is so good and the service so friendly that I can guarantee you will forget any negativity for the rest of your stay by the time you have finished your first cocktail.

The rooms are incredibly comfortable and modern whilst not being ostentatious or over the top. The restaurant is very good, but not absurdly expensive or high faluting that you won't feel comfortable. The breakfast is a delicious and generous buffet that you can either graze on or fill yourself to bursting with. The cocktails range from excellent to sublime and the sea is a ten second walk away from the main area of the hotel. Each and every member of staff are friendly and keen to help, and while some speak English better than others, the communication never felt like a problem. In fact I could have listened to Cosme, the shuttle driver, talk to his Brazilian guests all day long without having a clue what he was saying.

We weren't really in the mood for flying around doing trips but enjoyed a fisherman taking us out to the coral reef, a day long jaunt to Boipeba and a walk through the forest to Garapua beach. When the fancy took us, and it was not often, we took the shuttle to Morro town nearby and ate at some half decent restaurants and soaked up a bit of the atmosphere.

But not a day goes by now where I don't wish I was back at the Anima, living a life free of any worries...for a few days at least.

And finally, a big thank you to the manager Adauto, who recommended some beautiful Brazilian music for me to look up when I got back to the UK. It might not sound quite the same in North London as it did in Bahia, but it was a nice touch nontheless.

Room Tip: Try for ones nearest the sea

Stayed with my wife for three nights during a holiday and everything was absolutely perfect! Despite the hotel is a little bit far from Morro de Sao Paulo "downtown", the van service worked very well. But when you are at Anima, you will not want to go out! The restaurant is very good with excellent options at a reasonable price. The rooms are very cozy and in the middle of the hotel, where you can find small crabs. The staff is amazing, helpfull and very nice, also helping you with the rides. And, of course, the beach is fantastic and almost desert!

We stayed at the Anima for 4 nights straight after Carnaval this year. Overall, the hotel is fantastic and was the perfect antidote to 4 days of partying in Rio over Carnaval weekend.

First off, the location is great. When we booked we were slightly worried about being a drive away from Morro town. But the seclusion and extra space that the hotel has really adds to the experience. The shuttle bus into Morro itself is regular, free and very easy to arrange. As Morro itself was so busy it was actually much better to be able to escape back to the peace of the Anima.

The bungalows are clean, modern and very comfortable. Beds all have mosquiteo nets etc.

We ate dinner in the restaurent on a couple of nights and enjoyed it both times. Breakfast was also good.

All of the staff that we came into contact with were helpful, pleasent and discreet. They don't fuss over guests (which we prefer), instead they just leave you to enjoy the surroundings.

The Anima is not cheap (primarily based on the weakness of the British pound) but we thought that when compared to other hotels on Morro it is actually pretty good value. It felt like a notch up from the hotel that we moved onto after our stay at the Anima and really didn't cost that much more. Brazil is simply not a cheap tourist destination.

Overall, I would thoroughly recommend the Anima Hotel if you're visiting Morro. It's a great place to relax and unwind with friendly staff and gorgeous surroundings.
