Owner description: A trip to this imposing glacier gives you a chance to walk on the ice wearing cleats and to see and hear a truly astounding spectacle: blocks of ice rupturing and floating away as icebergs.

“Breathtaking, especially when glacier calves (breaks) into water”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

It's a must visit for everyone. It's one of the few galciers in that "advances" and not "retreat". Did the boat trip that brings us close to the glacier which was ok. I preferred the trek (yellow, red, green & blue trails- yellow being the best) from the snack bar area that leads you close to view the glacier. Here, you can wait and see if you are lucky enough to see parts of the glacier calve/breakaway and drop into the lake, making a thunder-like sound.

“Awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

The Perito Moreno glacier is wonderful in every way. Its size, beautiful blue colour and temperature will amaze you but the noise and splash made as ice falls off the glacier is something you will never forget - especially if you are on the boat next to it!

“Once in a lifetime”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

When my wife told me she had booked a tour of Moreno glacier, to be honest, I was like "Another one?" We had already seen the Glaciers in Alaska. But this is very unique, with piers built around the glacier that gets you closer than I could imagine. Easily could have spent several hours watching natures spectacle.

“A must-see”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

If you're in El Calafate, you're most likely there for the Perito Moreno glacier. There are many different options to visit the glacier, but if your budget can accommodate it I would highly recommend the Big Ice trek. The trek was very well organized, the guides were knowledgeable and professional. We spent 3-4 h on the ice exploring different ice formations, plus 45min-1h of approach to/from the "base camp". Before the trek you have enough time on the viewing platforms to admire the glacier, and there is a short boat ride past the face of the glacier to get to the start of the trek. We were very lucky with the weather (sunny and very warm - we had lunch on the glacier in T-shirts), however I imagine it can be a completely different experience on cold, windy days.

“Excellent experience on Perito Moreno Glacier Hike”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

This was a highlight of our trip to Patagonia. We went with Hielo y Aventura who picked us up at our hotel on time. We were then transported to a bus to be transported to the Glacier. There was a guide on the bus who was very informative. then , we spent about an hour seeing and hearing the glacier from the viewing platforms. We were then collected to be taken to a boat that transported us to the staging area to beginour hike. We were divided into laguage groups andour group was about 18 ppl. We were fitted with crampons and were given a very extenisve orientation about the nature of glaciers and the Perito Moreno in particular. Our guide, Luis was fantastic ! Hiking on the glacier was such an adventure ! I highly recommend this experience to everyone traveling to Glacier National Park !
