There not a lot of restaurants at the Dead Sea area. Actually you can use fingers on one hand to count them. So, when we came to Tapuah Sdom, I wasn't expecting any beyond regular middle eastern street food. I was really surprised to get a a very friendly and professional service. The food was great. They have variety of meat and fish dishes. Kebab I had was prepared very well and came with a good varieties of fresh salads. And last, but not the least I was surprised to get a perfect coffee. I definitely will be coming back to "Tapuah Sdom" again.

The service was ok, nothing to remarkable either good or bad. Same goes for the food variety in menu. One of us ordered a steak and was really pleased with it. Myself, on the other hand, ordered a marinated chicken breast with baked potato on the side and didn't manage to take more than 3 bites from it. The potato was cooked to death in the microwave and came out completely dry and uneatable. The chicken breast - not sure what was it marinated in but was absolutely tasteless (good thing husband was hungry enough..). Had I been some kind of food enthusiast - so be it,but all of this coming from someone who can live on scrambled eggs till the end of days -its a bit of a problem.

Regarding the atmosphere - the place was swarming with flies ..which is a bit of discomfort at the least. In any case - this is not what bothered me the most. We visited the place during Passover, a jewish holiday during which people (who adhere to religious practices) don't consume anything containing yeast. Despite that many places do serve bread which they make themselves, all the more the touristy ones. This place however chose a bit of a peculiar approach. We were brought a basket of pittah bread which we hardly touched because it was stale. When we approached the waitress about it she simply answered that there were no bread shipments because of the holiday so they just serve what they got before the holidays. It was at least 10 days into the holidays ....So basically I came out hungry and lacking 30$... Also this just left me wondering regarding the rest of their food, lets say u don't have shipments for 2 weeks- u just serve stale meat and rotten vegetables? No, thank u.

The service was a bit strange but the good was very good. We contemplated going back a second night but wanted to try something different while in vacation... We split a "business meal" between two and was more then enough food. Entrecôte skewers with great sides and appetizer dips. There is not much selection in this area but I would highly recommend eating here. There was indoor and outdoor seating available and even though it was winter season we were fine with light sweaters and jeans to sit out used and take in the scenery.
