“Deck the Halls-wonderful! Limo service-awful!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

My family and I enjoyed the "Deck the Halls" weekend on the Seneca Lake wine trail. The Deck The Halls weekend happen each year on the weekend before Thanksgiving and the weekend after Thanksgiving. You purchase tickets in advance that allow you to visit over 30 wineries along the wine trail. At your designated first stop you are given a grapevine wreath and after that at each stop you are given an ornament for the wreath, a sample of food paired to one wine that each winery is featuring and lots and lots of great wine to sample. We used trip advisor reviews to map a route for Friday and Saturday and purchased several bottles of wine along the way. I would absolutely recommend this trip for a fun weekend getaway. Ticket go fast, so if you plan to participate plan ahead.

Our experience with the limo service was a different story. Since we were a large group, and since we all wanted to sample wine and beer, we decided to use a limo service. It started out bad when the limo driver for Friday called and said he was going to pick us up 30 minutes ahead of when we had asked for the pick-up. It got worse when he arrived and the limo had one window that wouldn't completely shut (it was 29 degrees out), a tv that didn't work and heat that completely blasted us or was completely off so that we were constantly turning the heat on and off and even at that it was impossible to keep the area evenly heated so everyone was uncomfortable with the temperature most of the time. Those issues are nothing compared to the fact that after the first two winery stops the driver asked my husband for the remainder of the payment for the weekend of limo service and when we gave it to him he claimed that we owed $400.00 more than quoted (we had paid half up front with a credit card). My husband had left the confirmation email paperwork at the hotel and he and the driver agreed ( after much discussion in the parking lot of each winery while the rest of our group was inside enjoying the wine) to figure everything out when we got back to the hotel. When we arrived at the hotel, the owner of the limo service was there to greet us. That's when things went really bad! He informed us that he had charged our credit card $130.00 more than he had quoted us for the deposit on the limo in the first place and he wanted full payment for the remainder. He blamed us for not knowing that there was a difference between what he quoted and what he charged us saying, " you should have checked your credit card statement"! To make a long story short we could not come to an agreement with this man despite the fact that we had copies of emails confirming his quote so we cancelled the limo for day 2 of our trip. My advice, if you want a limo for a Seneca Lake Wine Trail weekend is DO NOT USE ARISTOCRAT WINE TOURS & LIMO SERVICE. I am sure there are many limo services in the area with fully functional limos who will charge you what they quote and honor their word.

“Great views, so many vineyards”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

Sort of stumbled upon the seneca lake wine trail when staying in Geneva for a wedding. Views on west side of lake were amazing, vineyards seemed to be everywhere as well as panoramic views of the lake. Enjoyed some tastings and brought home some wine (which was excellent). I hope to return with more time to explore this area and visit more vineyards.

“One of our favorites”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

there is a lot of variety around Seneca. You can chart out the individual wineries or even better hire a driver to take you around so that you can enjoy drinking and have a knowledgeable person take you to the better wineries. Some of the wineries have the best views of the Finger Lakes!

“over 100 wineries. Need I say more?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

There are so many wineries on Seneca lake, it would be impossible to stop at all of them in one trip. My favorites are lakewood vineyards, wagner winery & brewery, and the distillery (just south of wagner). Three brothers is a winery, distillery, AND brewery - I definitely recommend stopping there as well!

“Good Wine, Good Time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

Watkins Glen & the Finger Lakes region is one of my favorite places. Lake Seneca is absolutely breathtaking. On my last visit to the area I drove and toured the wineries on both sides of the lake. Plan to take a day for each side so you can enjoy each place your decide to stop...plus pace yourself. Some folks opt for a limo so they do not have to drive while on the trail. It seems popular, not sure of the price. I also suggest driving to some of the smaller towns and check out the other lakes too such as Cayuga and Keuka. Geneva at north end offers more activity and places to eat. There are many towns along the way, each with their own charm.
