Several fine meals, a nicely appointed small suite, a short walk to interesting shopping, and Charm all around.
We happened upon the 2 night demi-pension special including one gourmet dinner and one regional dinner from this well-regarded chef (Jean-Luc Arnaud). (We found the special on the hotel's website). Both meals were varied and of high quality and the local wine offerings by the glass were agreeable and reasonably priced as well We had a really nice small lunch in the Bar dining facility just across from the entry to the hotel. The buffet breakfast presentation was varied and ample.
The hotel has its own private parking area located just under the garden pool area. The hotel entrance is along a wall on a fairly narrow lane, just a short block from the Square and some shopping including a neat little shop run for local artisans and stocking very unique items.
Our small suite had a bedroom, a sitting room, and a well equipped bath with good counter space and all the essentials. Our view of the garden and pool area, and the surrounding country side invited opened windows and the grounds invited the amateur photographer.
Madame Arnaud speaks English and was very helpful, supplying hiking maps and suggestions of things to see in the Village. We had a very nice long hike in the countryside.
Lectoure is on one of the arms of the Route de St. Jacques de Compestella, and the "Pellerins" (Pilgrims making some or all of the trek) may be seen in the town, or in the hotel.
We had seen reviews of this hotel in guide books over the years, and finally had the great pleasure to stay here.
