“dim those lights”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

i went with my wife at the end of May to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. We were staying in the stunning area with friends and children and we managed to sneak out for a romantic dinner.
The food was very good, portion sizes very generous and the service, although a bit of a struggle if you dont speak french, very friendly and old fashioned. The only negative note was about the atmosphere, the decor was very out of date and the lighting was way too bright for a romantic dinner. Take out those candles and you will get top marks.

“Britbland”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Les Minotiers is a large "French" restaurant On the outskirts of the ancient market town of Mirepoix.Whilst the menu boasts an extravagant and mixed price different menus the results did not live up to the billing.I and my friend decided to select the 32 euro men with the addition of 8 euros for the house selection of wine for the starter and main courses.the starters of escargot+wild mushrooms and foix gras with salad were fine. The main courses of lamb encroute and steak with cheese topping were not.Encroute meant lamb stew, spuds with publike pastry top.The steak was tough and the carrots+spud boring. The dessert of apple crepe was cold in the centre and the crepe stogy. The hazlenut ice cream was ok but uninspiring. Both glasses of wine were suffiscent but adding aperitif or dessert wine would have been clever touch. The restaurant was busy the service fine. There are a large number of UK+Irish people residing in and visiting this beautiful part of France,i fear their devotion to carbohydrates and blandness may govern the large portions and very "unfrench" cuisine. The 2 Routiers south of Castlenaudry(12.50euro, 3 courses, incl wine) leave this "Dillusion of grandma" for dead .

“Very enjoyable experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

We have eaten there twice in the past week. We found the food to be excellent value and well presented. The staff are very attentive and welcoming. This is a Logis Hotel so you can be assured the standard will high. The restaurant has a real buzz, the ambience and service are top notch. Can't recommend it highly enough.

“Enjoyable Sunday Lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

Despite living nearby for 5 years this is the first time we've eaten Sunday lunch here. I had the €32 set meal with wine with every course making the cost €40, service included. First course was escargot and wild mushrooms with a pastry topping, followed by lamb en croute and a delicious apple filled crepe with eau de vie sauce. The starter was a little disappointing, the sauce overpowered the ingredients and was a little bland. However the main course was wonderful. The huge pie was filled with tender bits of lamb with garlic and the pastry very light. I was surprised there were no vegetables served with this dish, although there was a large potato inside the pie.
The dessert was a delight. A very thin, delicious crepe filled with hot apple and covered with a warm sauce with a hint of eau de vie.
There were several set menus to choose from as well as the a la carte menu. My wife had fillet steak tornador as a main course and passed on the starter. The steak was well cooked and huge, too big for her. A good selection of local wines and friendly efficient serving staff. The restaurant was full and if you like good French cuisine served in decent size portions, try here.
Total cost for the two of us, €70 which included an aperitif each.
Would I go again? Of course.

“Not the greatest Sunday Lunch”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2012

We met up with some friends at this restaurant for Sunday Lunch. The ambience and service were very good but the food was rather disappointing. We all had the E32 menu and whilst the food was generally quite well cooked and presented the size of the helpings was ridiculously large. Most of us would have found the first course sufficient, whilst the "Agneau en Croute" turned out to be some lamb stew in a bowl with a pastry hat, not what we were expecting (yes we do speak French).
An enjoyable lunch with friends but not memorable food
