“Far surpassed expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2014

An incredible lodge with amazing views. Staff are friendly and helpful, and accommodate your safari needs. Sit on your balcony and watch the elephants roam in Queen Elizabeth Park below you. The lodgings are spacious and private. The pool was very refreshing after the early morning safari.

I stayed here for 2 nights. The rooms are small but comfortable and the water is piping hot. I was unlucky that the familly from hell were above my room so sleep was not great. The food consists of a very average buffet for dinner and an OK breakfast. The hotel over looks the rift valley, unfortunately they were burning the fields on the days we were there so the view wasn't as great as it could've been.

Very friendly staff, including updates on the English football results from the waiter at dinner! Beautiful views, swimming pool, pretty gardens. Food excellent. Approach road was bad, but once in the grounds of the lodge, it was like a different world.

Room Tip: We had a roundel with stairs up to it and a veranda, I think all rooms would have a fantastic view

What potential this hotel has, an amazing panoramic view of the great rift valley with picturesque little cottages, being a solo traveller I can only offer a view on my accomodation which was compact and comfotable and the shower gave almost instant hot water.
With its beautiful gardens and friendly willing staff it is an ideal starting point for game drives, but with a little thought and investment if could but up there with the best. Where it failed to impress was in its catering and dinning location, a rather dull drab subteranian atmosphere with little to no decor.
The food though wholesome was without thought of presentation and often with too larger portions of rice or potatoes. Thier inability to serve a single glass of wine as opposed to a bottle suggested a minimal stock.
The deep fried/boiled in oil sausages at breakfast put many in our party off, some training required here I think.
Having said all that my two nights there were comfortable and refreshing, so don't be to put off.

Room Tip: If you find difficulty in climbing stairs this could be a problem, be sure to check before booking.

This is a reasonably large complex of individual lodges built high on a hillside about the vast plains below. The accommodation varies enormously, from very small one room units to large family buildings with several bedroom. We were lucky enough to be allocated a very large family lodge with two floors and veranda overlooking the plains below. I was excellent accommodation although some of our party did have very snug rooms! The grounds have well kept gardens which are nice to relax in and again have excellent views. The restaurant is set below the gardens and is a little claustrophobic. The staff are attentive and food was acceptable but nothing special. As far as cost goes I have no idea as this was part of a package. I would recommend it as somewhere to stay though as it is in an excellent location. Only concern was the pool, this was a horrible green colour and not at all inviting. It does seem that pools in Uganda are left to their own devices and call natural which seems to mean no chlorine is used!!

The atmosphere was refreshing and enchanting with a historical feel. It could have been the flowers and shrubbery, the tiny cottages tucked together, the awesome view of the hills and the stone paned rooms and decor.
The attic bunks added a child like and yet romantic feel to the rooms, adding mischief and adventure to the rooms.
It was amazing to stay at and made me lose sense of time. It was relaxing and exhilarating and the breakfast had a wide variety of delicacies like sausages, toast and fruits.

Room Tip: Choose one with an attic bunk, surreal feel to the rooms.

Stayed at the lodge for a night...the bathrooms are spacious and the view from the lodge is breathtaking. Everything was top notch, with beautiful rooms. Problem is their breakfast can only be served up to 9:30 am which is a little early in my view. The night I stayed the food was too salty, saw cant say anymore...maybe would have been better if I had stayed more nights. Breakfast was okay. And yes...there is hot water in the rooms to take a warm shower! It also has a beautiful swimming pool.
