“Alright for some shade”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

This was only highly interesting if you are aware of some of the background. It was a welcome break from the sun and actually led to us buying a book about it when we came home, but otherwise it's a bit like being herded from room-to-room with sparse displays and a bit of a thrown-together vibe. Still, glad we went as the views from thetop were lovely.

“Good views of the beach”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

There isn't really that much to see inside the museum but it's still worth the effort for the views over the port and beach and nearby buildings.

“Run far far away”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

My friend summed it up "The worst $3 I have ever spent". The palace was once a beautiful palace but certainly not anymore. It is horribly neglected, there is dust everywhere, the furniture is creepy and filthy, and adding an Ikea table in the middle of hundred year old chair sets did not help.

“Integral Part of Zanzibar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

It is well worth a visit as Stone Town is relatively small and you can easily visit this as part of your old town tour. It will add to your knowledge of the rich Zanzibar history.

“Needs help”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

Our guide did his best to make this place interesting. It has remnants of what must have been a glorious past. A little furniture in need of repair, some old photos, a room dedicated to a princess. A visit of 45 minutes is plenty. They really need to receive some UNESCO money to develop it.
