Great location, friendly and effective staff. Lisette welcomes us, answers all our questions, makes good suggestions for tours, meals etc. Perfect fit for our needs after five weeks on mainland--comfortable, charming, inexpensive

After a fantastic safari in Tz we flew to Zanzibar and decided to stay in Stonetown for 2 nights. The long days in the Serengeti and one of us coming down with food poisoning made us crave some serious chilling. Clove hotel turned out to be a great choice within our budget. The roof terrace gave us a chance to regain some energy after a day in Stonetown. The great thing about the roof terrace: no service! Just grab some drinks from the fridge and write it down. It's nice to be left alone for a change. Lisette was very helpful with lots of tips and recommendations. Rooms are basic but good with hot water, a safe and a fan.

Beautiful hotel on a good location in Stone Town. The comfortable room was a relieve after a couple of weeks on mainland Tanzania. Good price/quality. The owner Lisette is most happy to give information about Stone Town or just to have a nice chat. Breakfast was great on te rooftop bar with sea views. Really close to Foorodhani foodgardens and restaurants. I would recommend this place.

Staying at Clove Hotel turned out to be a very good choice and experience. The house is located in the city centre within walking distance to the port and major attractions. Rooms are clean, in good condition, and the host is very nice and helpful. The terrace on the top of the building were breakfast is served and where once can relax in peace and admire the city from above is a great plus

I agree with Ranyday3 ... loved the roof terrace, the location in Stone Town is great, the staff was incredibly helpful, and Lisenka is a wonderful source of information. She helped with the Spice Tour and also getting transportation to Kendwas. Rooms are basic but comfortable, nets and fans -- I got a family room as we wanted two separate beds. Definitely plan to stay there when I next go to Zanzibar. I was with a friend but it was be great for solo travelers too.

Room Tip: If you want separate beds you need to book a family room as no twin beds it seems. Had a small balco...

Just book it. Rooms are small but light and cheerful with big Zanzibari beds (with mosquito nets), powerful ceiling fans, pretty paint job and a safe for your valuables. The rooftop terrace is superb with great views. That's where you can get wifi. Breakfast is served up there - toast, fresh fruit and vegetables, eggs cooked to order, fruit, tea, juice and coffee. There's a well stocked honour bar with wine, beer, soft drinks and Pringles. Lisenka arranged a spice tour for me and my friends at a moment's notice. I recommend it. To book you need to make a deposit through PayPal. Very affordable and nice staff.
