My partner and I spent a very pleasant couple of nights at the Clove Hotel. It is in an old building, but nicely maintained and decorated, and clean. The location is great, in the middle of Stone Town, and is made even better by the big communal terrace on the fourth floor, overlooking the town and with a view of the sea, where you can relax on one of the sofas. The hosts were pleasant, our room was spacious, the bed comfortable enough and properly mosquito-netted, and the bathroom clean and working. The buffet breakfast was good. Hot water in the bathroom was scarce, but all of Zanzibar is water conservation conscious - and it's a warm island anyway. We'd be back!

Clove really has a great location in Stone Town.

The open air restaurant in front of the hotel,gives it a huge advantage.Wonderful view of the Harbour from the roof top.Nice to have the option of a cold "Kili" on the roof top.
Everything one needs is a few steps away ...Forex, Antique Shop, Gardens for dinner and the wonderful maze of streets that is Stone town.

Buffet breakfast very nice ,only thing missing was Swahili Spice Tea.

We stayed here for 2 nights - the location is great as you can just walk to anywhere in Stone Town from here. The rooms are lovely - fully netted comfortable double bed, ensuite toilet and shower, safe and whb in room. Very clean and staff very helpful. Good buffet breakfast is served on the fabulous roof top terrace, where there is also an 'honesty' bar and WiFi - a lovely place to spend the evening after a day in the hot sunshine.

Good clean rooms, tasteful decorations and a wonderful roof terrace made this a place great stop-over in Stone Town on the way to the East Coast. The hosts are kind, friendly and really helpful, and little touches such as the library and the drinks fridge with its honesty system were appreciated. There is a lovely spice shop just below by the way - run by a kind lady anyway - and you are a walk away from most good things in Stone Town.
