Although Stone Town is like dozens of African countries out there it has it's own charm with the strong Arabic influence that comes through. The whole town - in fact the whole island could do with a cost of paint but be that as it may, it feel safe walking through the narrow back streets of town exploring, plus it is surprisingly clean in its run down way. Jaws Square the main square is the busy tiny town square. Watch out for bicycles there and everywhere as you walk! Try Memories for all types of curious and mementos and Tanzanite purchases. Do yourself a favour and walk through the meat, fish and fruit market and see if your stomach copes! Stop en route for lunch and a refreshment at one of the small city hotels and carry on to look at the Anglican cathedral and slave chambers from a bygone era. And then go back to your lovely resort hotel at the beach to relax for the rest of the afternoon!
