We spent four nights in the hotel. They have just a few rooms, ours was spacious and acceptably clean, no balcony (not much of a view from the room either). Big mirrors available, as well as coat hangers, mosquito net, a table and two chairs and two night stands next to the king size bed. There was also a fridge, ac, cable TV. Bathroom was also very spacious, with water heater that you turn on or off and with a hair dryer. We were given soap, two big towels and one small towel (changed once during the stay). We were also given a complementary small bottle of water per person per day. The restaurant is open from 8 to 22, more water can be obtained there, but there is also a guy selling water and juices right in front of the restaurant at a cheaper price. Breakfast was the only thing we tried, but it was excellent! One can have a breakfast up to 10000 KES for free and the remaining amount was to be paid. The breakfast choice was excellent, the food quality great, prices reasonable, coffee superb (one pot is enough for two persons). Right next to the place are two more restaurants (recommendations for Lazuli), and the hotel is in a very central place, it is extremely close to the post office, the Internet place (the hotel does offer some sort of Internet, but we did not test it), the beach, the souvenir shops (Memories and Maki being the most noticeable), the restaurant Archipelago (recommendations, excellent lunch and dinner) and the exchange office with the best rates (first turn right after the post office). Taxi from the airport was 10 USD, so no need to use their service of hiring a taxi driver who would wait for you after your flight and transfer you to the hotel for 15 USD. The staff is extremely polite & friendly, ready and willing to answer all sorts of questions and to give helpful tips and ideas, as well as a small map (proved to be very useful for roaming around the place). Check out was at 10 AM, but they let us stay longer since our flight was much later during the day and there were no previous reservations for that particular room. There was a minor issue of insisting on using Pay Pal when paying a reservation (in the end, we did not pay anything, but just appeared at the hotel, so it took some telephone calls to sort things out since we were not in the list of guests who were arriving on that day), but all in all, staying here was a very positive experience and we will definitely come again on our next trip to Zanzibar.
Room Tip: Rooms facing the entrance side have a balcony.
